Minimize the RISK of Account Restriction/Shut Down
There can be hundreds of reasons for account restriction and shutdown. But we may not know all of them. Today, I am talking about a few ways to keep your account safe: - ALWAYS use US IP ( Tello/Proxy/Red Pocket) - Don't spend outside USA in physical store on new cards unless you got it in-person or has NRA status. Online international payment is fine but better not to have in-store tap for first 2-3 statements - Don't change your address for first few statement cycle - Don't give bank staff a reason to look at your account. A manual check means they can find issues with address or id or whatever... People saying Cap1 asking for US ID after system triggered a manual verification. **Most important** - TURN OFF BACKGROUND DATA on your banking apps. ( I think, this is very important. If your background data are on, it means your app can connect to the banking server; it will be sending request on background 24/7 and you wont be using tello data 24/7 ) - Even if you turn of background data, your app may connect. To be completely safe, HIDE & LOCK your apps in iOS. So, you need to unhide/unlock for the app to use internet. Keep on adding more guys...🔥

@Joel Puig Rubio Thanks for the information. That helps me a lot.

@Frank Morgan You can use the Curve card worldwide, but I think you can only order a Curve card when you live in Europe including the UK. There was a US Version of the curve card, but this service ended already.
Chase Saphhire Reserve approved (150.000 UR Offer)
Today I got approved for the Chase Saphhire Reserve card. Applied online via the Chase app. Simply clicked on the pre-approval in the app, updated my income (I used the same amount from my last application), and checked the boxes for confirmation. -> Wait 30 seconds. Congratulations! No documents were required. No VPN/Proxy used. I was already pre-approved for both Chase Saphhire Cards in the app for 4 weeks. I was lucky to wait for the best offer ever for CSR. I have an Chase Checking Account for almost 2 years. This was my 4th us credit card (Amex HH (2 years), Amex Green (1 1/2 years), Chase Freedom Unlimited (7 month). Credit Score before the application today: 754 (Equifax). I will try for my first Capital One card in 30 days in the US at an Capital One Cafe... I know, it will be a short time period between both aplications, but I dont know, when I will be back in the USA after my next vacation. Has anyone visited the Capital One Cafe in Las Vegas oder in Denver?

@Stefan S Thank you again for the warning regarding the recent account closures at Capital One. I've been looking into this issue for months, have read a lot about it, and will therefore approach Capital One very cautiously and only very carefully. That's also why I visit the Capital One café and request in-person verification.

@Ain - Cloud Resident Yes, only ITIN. The credit card limit is well into the five-figure range.
⚠️ Beware about BoA Resident Alien application!
Saw the approval posts here recommending BoA online - went for it today, made it all the way to the final step, then stopped and want to share what I found before someone else clicks through without reading. If you select "Resident Alien" in the application (which is what makes the online flow work), the last screen is basically a W-9 form. You're certifying, under penalty of perjury, that you're a "U.S. citizen or other U.S. person." Resident Alien" is a tax term, not something that comes with your ITIN. To actually qualify you need one of:A Green Card, or 183+ days physically in the US or A formal first-year election If you live abroad and just have an ITIN, technically you're a Non-Resident Alien. The correct form is W-8BEN, not W-9. Stuff that can go wrong if you sign W-9 anyway: - Account closed at the next yearly KYC review - When a bank closes you for fraud/misrep, they report it to ChexSystems and Early Warning Services (EWS). EWS is owned by Chase, BofA, Wells, Cap One, US Bank, PNC, Truist — they all see each other's flags in real time. ChexSystems sticks for 5 years. Most mainstream US banks pull both before opening anything new. - Automatic 24% backup withholding on interest - IRS expects a full 1040 with worldwide income - Any future US visa or ESTA form asks if you ever made a false statement to get a benefit. Bank account counts. Just wanted folks to know what's behind that final checkbox before clicking. Not worth it in my opinion.

Bank of America account approved with ITIN 🎉
I tried opening Bank of America before and it didn't work. Couldn't verify me online, they asked me to go to a branch with 2 forms of ID. This time I try again. And it worked. What I did: I opened Advantage Plus Banking and Advantage Savings. During the application, I selected U.S. resident alien even though that's not technically my status. The account opened instantly - well, it went into review first, and after about 1 hour I got the approval email. No identity verification was asked this time. I also applied through the USD 500 cash bonus offer. The only thing I changed this time: I applied from my desktop using the Classroom setup with the USD 1 data proxy.

Thanks for sharing. What is the "USD 1 data proxy"?
What's the best AMEX for a non resident?
The Platinum looks great on paper but if you're not based in the US, most of the credits are completely useless. Uber Cash is US-only, Resy and Dunkin' credits are US-only, CLEAR+ is US airports only, Equinox, Walmart+, lululemon — all US. You're looking at close to $1,900/year in credits you simply can't touch, on an $895 annual fee card. So what are people outside the US actually holding? Is the Gold a better fit (4X dining at least works globally)? Are you just in it for the MR points and treating the fee as a cost of the welcome offer? Or have you dropped Amex altogether for something more region-friendly? Would love to hear what people are doing.

I like the Amex Green, 3x for Transit in a very wide definition and 3x for restaurants worldwide. The only perks I can use is Global Entry and Clear.
