Feels like Monday today - even though it's Tuesday. Yesterday was fun though a lot for this ole gal. I don't get to spend alone time very often with the second born grand kids because - well they have older siblings and usually we get them both - yesterday was really special in that way. Theo though 2 and half is learning to talk and count and likes to sing movie themes apparently - we had all the fun singing along to Frozen and Moana. The surgery went well for his brother, but he will need another one in March to actually fix the issue. (Which should have been fixed when he as 12-18 months old - but we have morons for doctors in our next of the woods. I'm here in the wee hours of the morning at my son's house - babysitting the youngest. There was almost a disaster... a real catastrophe - I couldn't for the life of me find the coffee! Let me tell you, shear panic was setting in. After searching high and low for the better part of 20 minutes I finally found it. Phew - I was considering the idea of running home to get some and taking Charly home at the same time. Charly is my dog, we brought him over to play with Rocket, my son's dog. Bad idea they stayed up for the better part of the night wrestling with each other. It was worse than a little girl sleep over party. 🗝️🌻🌺☘️🌺🌻☘️🗝️ This week in the news... I'm writing, I'm sharing my wisdom, I'm an expert at what I do - why isn't that enough? Feels like at one point or another everyone asks that question, maybe not out loud, but at least to themselves. The problem is we have reached a point where information abounds. Heck, I wired a fan and light into a space in the ceiling where no light existed before. I'm not an electrician by any stretch of the imagination and my house is full of knob and tube wiring. I built a camper out of cedar fence posts - I'm not a carpenter either. Neither of those two things were insignificant accomplishments - the point is that there is so much information around that just telling people how to do things isn't enough. People can do a lot with youtube and ai and a bit of background about what seems reasonable. When we create content and offers these days we need to keep these points in mind. We need to think about what are we adding to the conversation that is unique. And how can we add a human element to our offers that is both personalized and quickly consumable or actionable in a way that ai isn't? And then we need to play the game of Substack the way Substack wants to be played. Notes - introduces you to the world. Think of them as little conversation starters. Bits of wisdom that a stranger who is your people might find relatable, or intriguing or something they can respond to. Chats - start conversations at a deeper level - one concept developed further Lives - you talking to your people. These also become long form content on your publication. Articles - these are deeper thoughts, from a unique angle. Google indexes these. There are 4 ways emails work these days on Substack (they are working on a 5th) You create emails through your articles/newsletters You create the welcome email You can broadcast email (and now you may segment your list) and you can email your chats Everything runs off of commenting, liking, following and subscribing to other content on Substack for discover ON the platform. So, unless you have a HUGE audience already or are doing paid advertising to drive awareness, simply writing on Substack isn't enough to drive discovery.

Do you ever go through times when you have so many ideas you have to have a conversation with yourself about not acting on them all? Sigh - yeah for those of us with that bent - the struggle is real. I've been having all the fun with the hobo homesteading publication, Pinterest and the little pop up Printify shop. The Intentional Pin Tool makes creating pins that are actually pins to things people are looking for so fast to make. To actually seo a pin properly the old way - often called the Bubble Method - takes a bit of know-how and finesses - the tool does it in about a minute. All you do is add your url (or if it's new - copy and paste the content - even the product description) then paste in your board list and presto whamo up to 7 pin ideas with the image headline, title and description along with the best board to pin it to. By day 3 of a brand-new Pinterest account setup the way I share (just 7 boards) Pins are already getting views and likes. Normally, new accounts languish with no views on their pins forever unless they play the Pin Swap game which I actually think hurts your account more than helps it. And how frustrating is that to go look at your Pinterest account and think I did all that work, and no one is seeing my pins? That's what the Intentional Pin community exists to help with. I'll be making videos later today showing how the tool works and how I use it.
