Monday Motivation: Easy and Light
As weāre well into 2026, I find myself still planning, dreaming, and thinking about how I want this year to feel, not just what I want to accomplish. And there are two words that keep coming to mind over and over again: Easy and light. Theyāre inspired by the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:30, when He tells us that His yoke is easy and His burden is light, and that we find rest when we come to Him. When it comes to entrepreneurship and content creation, there can often feel like a clash here. Weāre told that to earn more, we have to work harder. That success requires hustle, exhaustion, and showing up everywhere, all the time, far beyond our capacity. But that message is completely counter to the words of Jesus. And deep down, I know it isnāt true. We donāt need to do all of that. In fact, so much of business, life, and creativity becomes heavy because we overcomplicate what Jesus makes simple. He says, Come to Me. When we make Jesus the priority, even in our businesses and content, there should be a natural sense of alignment, flow, and peace. That doesnāt mean there wonāt be challenges or obstacles. It means weāre not meant to carry unnecessary weight. For me, keeping things easy and light this year looks like a few intentional choices. First, Iām committing to doing work I genuinely enjoy. So often, we feel pressure to do things simply because someone else says itās the path to success, or because it worked for them. But if itās not aligned with the gifts and talents God has given you, it will always feel heavy. Ask yourself: What do I enjoy doing? Because what brings you life is often deeply connected to what youāre called to do. Second, I want to make more time to celebrate and connect. Last week, I celebrated my 40th birthday with a planner party, because I love planners, and invited some of my closest friends to create vision boards together. This past weekend, I traveled to Texas to celebrate my dadās 70th birthday with family, good food, and lots of laughter. These milestone moments reminded me that I donāt want to rush past life chasing a finish line. If weāre always focused on what hasnāt happened yet, we miss the joy of being in the race at all.
