New here and what is going on with my body
Hello, I’m new here I have two kids single parent I’ll be 42 this summer. Happy to be here and see that I’m not the only one not feeling like myself with crazy symptoms . Never knew of perimenopause and the symptoms. The week leading up to my period had really bad anxiety can’t remember if it was before the anxiety or after I start to have my little toes twitch then muscle and tongue twitching which really freaked me out I started to think is this als. Back in November I was told my testosterone was low but they were not worried about it. In January I had pain in my bicep the my shoulder and elbow I thought carpal tunnel had an mri of my cervical spine done recently and waiting on results. My sleep was off had hard time falling asleep wake up in the middle of the night or really early. Went to my gyno got me on progesterone 100mg been on it for a week sleeps gotten better. My muscles and tongue twitch at night still and it’s freaking me out. Anyone else have crazy symptoms.

Hi @Lily Castro ! Yes! I even went to the ER once because of it. I wish I had started replacing my estradiol in perimenopause because I could’ve avoided. most of the issues I’ve had the last 15 years. I am slowly rebuilding at 51 and doing so much better. But there is years of damage done. Intramuscular injection of estradiol cypionate has finally gotten me to optimal levels and Elevate MD has been a lifesaver. It’s hard to find a provider that is familiar with intramuscular estradiol for women.
I didn’t have tongue twitching but had symptoms like tingling and zaps down limbs that along with the other cascade of symptoms made me worried that I was either developing MS or having a stroke. And I had muscle twitching and trembling in my gut. And just a whole host of other symptoms. It was awful and scary.. So between managing histamine intolerance and MCAS, and optimizing my hormones those issues have mostly resolved.
Hello from Las Vegas!
I'm 53 and have been struggling to feel like "myself" for 6 years. It's been a journey of seeing all kinds of practioners and not receiving much help. Started HRT May 2025 and haven't found the right delivery method... I've had creams patches, and now pellets but symptoms of brain fog, dizziness, vertigo, frozen shoulder are back! Hoping to find the right support and get my hormones in balance.

@Stacy Acquavivai I can so relate! I spent three years trying to optimize estradiol on creams, but could never get it above menopausal levels. None of my doctors could figure out what was wrong. I’m only now having success with injectable estradiol cypionate through Elevate MD. I was really only getting tissue saturation with the topical creams (aggravating MCAS too) and I’m now actually getting systemic therapy with IM injections. Can’t recommended enough. Best of luck!
Low dose GLP-1 experience?
I'm currently on HRT and my dr is supportive of starting microdosed GLP-1s to help with other issues (weight, inflammation, cholesterol & LDL, etc). Admittedly I am nervous. I'm concerned about some of the really bad side effects, but more so life long reliance. I know Kaylyn suggests tirzepatide for fewer side effects. Has anyone successfully used them to improve their health, then wean off successfully and keep the weight off and improved health? If so I'm curious what that looked like for you.

My doc prescribed Zepbound at the 2.5mg dose (so 10mg per month) which lasted me 10 weeks at the 500 MCG twice weekly microdose. I had zero side effects at this dose and just a delightful quieting of food noise. I could still eat through it if I wanted to, but I’ve always had self discipline so it is a great aid. It helped with my motivation by modulating dopamine. It greatly helped with inflammation. It also helped me with reactive hypoglycemia. After the first three months, I bumped it up to 1mg twice weekly and did fine on that as well. It doesn’t replaced making healthy food choices. But it helps with the out of control cravings food noise.

@Lynette Venuto i’m not sure. I actually answered this particular question before… I started on 500 MCG two times weekly. I didn’t move up to 750 MCG two times weekly until I had been on that first dose about eight weeks. From there, I moved up to 1 mg twice weekly. I do not like side effects so I take things low and slow. I couldn’t have handled 1.25mg in one shot either!
HELP ME!!!!
Hello everyone. I am new here and in need of some help! I am struggling really bad with perimenopause symptoms. They are slowly killing me. The problem is that I cannot distinguish between it being solely perimenopausal symptoms or symptoms from my car accident that occurred last year and I have damage to my neck, shoulder, and back. I have bulging discs and herniated discs in neck and back that is also reeking havoc on my entire body. My mobility is being affected as well as the hot flashes and night sweats. It is the absolute worse. Please help me!

Sugar, I can’t recommend Elevate MD enough. Have been working with them for about four months now after three years with various other HRT prescribers. Normalizing your hormones is critical for every organ, system, structure, and connective tissue in your body. Prior to optimizing serum levels of estradiol and getting there with testosterone, the pain cascade from any injury was just terrible. So I can understand why it feels like you can’t tell the difference. they are closely intertwined. The hot flashes and night sweats alone are a reason to run, not walk, to get your hormones optimized. They are not a nuisance symptom, but rather a fire alarm in your brain. We know so much more about them now. In my experience starting low and going slow was a life saver. And I couldn’t tell you the last time I had a hot flash. 🤪
Noticing changes?
For those of you on HRT, what would you say were the first notable changes you experienced after starting your protocol? What improvements stood out to you the most? For me, I saw an immediate improvement in my brain fog. I'm talking in the first couple weeks, it felt like I could finally have a coherent thought. & I also noticed that I wasn't as irritable or over stimulated all the time. That really stood out to me because I was SUPER on edge all the time before starting my injections. 🥹 I'm curious to hear what you guys experienced!

@Christa Bowdler some experts recommend twice weekly or every other day dosing to maintain steady state testosterone in your system. I am personally doing a low dose of T every other day and I don’t feel those peaks or troughs. You should talk to your prescriber about options if that sounds like something you’d be willing to try. A hack for me with restless legs is 15 bodyweight squats when it’s happening. Also stretching. Both help with dopamine signaling which is often a root cause with RLS. Typically aggravated by lowering estrogen. If you’re not already on estrogen replacement therapy because you’re in perimenopause, you should mention this symptom to your provider. Some experts are now prescribing low-dose estrogen, even during perimenopause to help level out the peaks and troughs and symptoms like this.
