Dream Clients 🧖‍♂️💁‍♀️🧓🙋‍♂️🧘‍♀️
Quick question - If your dream client messaged, or walked into your studio today - who would they be & what would they ask you for? Let me know in the comments!

They would be a 60 year old retired F1 engineer looking to get an F1 sleeve. Or it would be Tom Morello, looking to get a sick portrait of Chris Cornell. Or an AI software engineer... Looking for a terminator theme backpiece of the war of the machines. I'd expect great conversation from all of them, and the subject matter would be such a pleasure to work on.
Live Call -
Good morning! A few of you showed interest in the Live call this morning. I'll be starting the call at 10am, I'd just recommend having the Skool App open, if you're not set to receive notifications. I'd love to have a little intro & talk about what you have going on right now & where you're looking to go from here. As this is our first call, please bare with me as I figure out how to set things up here! Looking forward to seeing who shows up! 🙂

Ugh!! I missed this! Been so MIA working on a side project. Hope the call was energizing!!
New project started - Medusa 🎨
Hey everyone, I hope you’re all having a great week! I’m really excited to share this new project I just started. Lisa contacted me about this Medusa piece & was very specific about the details she’d like included. She really wanted to focus on the backstory of Medusa, rather than focusing on her evil side. Focusing more on her beauty & tragedy. Day 1 - We mapped out the lower design in grey lines & a little shading. Then did a first pass on the opaque grey section through her face, I really like starting projects like this, often grey lining the stencil after completing a whole section. I really like clients to leave understanding the big picture, while also seeing an area of the kind of quality they can expect. This excites me as well & sets us up to jump into the next session quickly. I hope you can see the vision from this. If you have any work to share, or comments on your own work flow, I’d love to hear!

Great start! Can't wait to see the rest of the progress! I never grey line. I don't have a strong reason for it, I just find my natural flow is to try and fully render a sizeable chunk and then restencil down the road. The one situation I find it pays off is where somewhere along we get a fresh idea for a new detail, or a small edit. By not having anything in the skin we leave room for inspiration to still enter after the first session.
Happy Sunday!!!
Happy Sunday everyone! ✨ I love Sundays. It’s my only full day off from Drawing/Tattooing. It’s a day to reflect on the week a little, then relax. I did a quick round of messages, now about to go skiing with my 10 year old daughter, Isabelle. I had a busy week Tattooing this week & would love to hear how your week went. I’d like to share a win from this past week - I just spent two days with an awesome couple. Two new clients who were both excited to start new projects with me. They booked a hotel here & booked two full days. We had a lot of fun & I love new clients coming into my world! I’ll drop photos of our first sessions below👇 Let us know how your week went & share a win, if you have one! (Ps - Mission 1, starting tomorrow 🚀)

Cool to hear you also take Sundays off. Every since I started dating my wife 4 years ago I made it a point to always have at least one day a week where I can be fully present with her with minimal excuses. It's been valuable to say the least! This last week week was good. Touched base on some bigger ongoing projects. Almost done my first leg sleeve! I think more of my bigger wins are more on the admin side. Very happy to make headway in moving on from my existing accountant to a new one. I've also made a new connection with a potential apprentice so that feels like an exciting thing to explore. Steve, do you have any kind of specific process for out of town clients that come in for set days and book accommodation? Also, what kind of steps do you take to maybe smooth the logistics for them? I almost feel it would be cool on the client side to receive a 1 page cheat sheet for best places to stay, eat, explore, what to pack, what to expect, etc.
Some recent work
Hey guys. This is one I did last weekend. 2 day sit. Overall happy with it. It's about 95 percent there for me. The client wants to do more work on the rest of the arm but I'm glad I was able to get it at least this big. I'm curious to hear where my design or execution is a little weak, or where I could have been a little more thoughtful. He wanted a reaper that has his life force / time chained and entangled with itself. A story that speaks to the life challenges he's endured and his battle with escaping the grips of dark forces, all while not letting time slip away. Thanks in advance!

@Steve Kretz Thank you for the feedback! I hear you on the luminescence. Depending on the angle this tattoo is looked it, it's either a little more or a little less obvious. Something I definitely want to finesse as the rest of the sleeve comes together. And speaking of that too, I'm hoping to create some darker elements towards the bottom to emphasize the glow around the hourglass from the other side.

@Steve Kretz oh 2 more things... I just started experimenting with adding a splash of straight white to my usual wash mixtures. Not enough to make it a true opaque but I do notice it slows me down. That said, I'm finding it helps me hit more accurate values and because I'm spending more time saturating the healed tones are more "buttery". It's been interesting to play with. I can see how true opaque would reallllly slow things down. And thanks for appreciating the importance of story. For me it's everything in my consults. I kinda don't care what idea they put on the table. First, I wanna hear what it is that they wanna express. I might help them expand their idea into something that speaks even louder or more eloquently than they thought possible. Time well spent.
