Practice Pieces
Hi Everyone, I wanted to share some pieces I have worked on. It’s the biggest pieces I have worked on yet and I’ve learnt so much during my experience. If you have any feedback or criticisms, they are more than welcome, willing to learn and grow. Thank you

These are looking good as well. The lines look a little inconsistent, as some are lighter, some closer to black. You'll get them looking good with more practice. That could also be down to the fake skins. I actually don't have much experience with fake skins. I did lots of drawing before trying tattooing, so had my art looking pretty good already. I practiced on fruit to get my hand used to the machine (coils originally, which are hard to learn with). Then I quickly started tattooing my own legs, as I really wanted to see them heal. I would always say get your art looking really good & learn the health side, before you go to real skin!
Trad on Fake Skin
Another attempt at traditional style, lines aren’t perfect making do with the needles that I have. All my work done with 1205RL and 1205RM. Any comments and feedback welcome :)

Thanks for sharing Anver, it's great seeing your practice skins. Are you building up the lines, asyou said you're using 5RL which is quite a thin line. Totally fine if you are, but for trad pieces you might want to try something like a 9RS to give you a nice thick outer line in one pass. You're lines will keep getting smoother with time. Just remember bigger needles will need more hand pressure. Fine needles you need to ease off on pressure a little. These are looking good. Try to get those lines nice & consistent & dark by going fairly slow with your hand.
Dream Projects!!!
Sometimes you get to work on dream projects. These projects are where you get your take real steps forward in your career. Where you get to really define the artist you want to be. I find working on projects like this help me connect with the best clients I’ll ever find. Clients who quickly become friends. Because when you share interests & spend lots of time together, you’re likely to get on really well! I just did an 8 hour session with Wil on Saturday, then came in on Sunday (my day off with my family normally) to do another 6 hours. Because he’s a great guy, travelled here & I love this project! Here’s how far we got. Wolverine & the magic hand underneath are new. Doctor Strange portrait is from our last session. Please share some of your art or tattoos. They don’t need to be perfect right now. We’re all working on getting better together! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Dream Projects!!!
Hi Everyone
My names Anver from Cape Town South Africa. I’m very new to tattooing, it’s been a dream of mine for years but finally decided to risk it all and follow my dreams and fully committing. Been practicing on fake skins for less than a month, lines still abit shaky but these are some of my first pieces I’ve done. Feedback is highly appreciated.

Great to meet you Anver. It looks like you're off to a good start. Keep practicing every day & those lines will start to flow & look much cleaner. It's really important to be drawing as well. I always advise people to draw for 2 hours every day, to start filling sketchbooks, then eventually a portfolio of art. That was the advice I was given early on & I did that while raising two young kids & having a job. When I look back at those sketchbooks, I can see how quickly I was progressing & figuring out my original art style. Tattooing is more competitive than ever, but there is always room for people willing to put the work in. Joining us here was a great step in the right direction!

@Anver De Kock that's awesome to hear! It would be great to see how it went. You guys are welcome to share any work or art in posts & I can give you feedback. I would definitely try to keep up the practice with the machine & paper. We do all hit roadblocks at times. When that happens it's ok to take a day off, or what I like to do is switch up what I'm working on. Start something new or work on something you've already started. Sometimes it feels good just to jump into a different project.
