Tough Skin
Sometimes it takes tough skin. I work very hard in this business and when someone gives me 4 stars across the board without any explanation. It is a bit upsetting. I gave her a great deal on a nice piece of jewelry and didn’t even use one of my recycled boxes, I shipped next day. I wrote a handwritten Thank you in the packing slip. (I did not leave gifts in the box.) I guess it’s not enough for some. I am Open to criticism. I guess I need to add cute extras to packages? I did write a “soft note” asking for suggestions or preferences. I guess I can’t make everyone happy. ( She apparently has not been around whatnot long by the looks of her account. ) Not feeling like I am having tough skin at the moment.

It is frustrating and it happens everywhere. I received a 4 Star rating from a customer on Etsy because she thought the purse she purchased “would be bigger”. Umm size stated in listing, pictures with measuring tape etc…. How is your inability to read or look at pictures my fault? Ooo I was hot about that one for days. Wait, maybe I still am… You know you did what you could and your other reviews will show it. Not sure if it’s consolation but it’s the truth. :0)
Entertainment Sells
I had to share this video, despite Bradley feeling cringy when he sees video of himself. This video is an example of why entertainment is an important part of selling on Whatnot. I believe Brad pulls in so many buyers not only because of his great products and infinite Knowledge, but because he is absolutely entertaining. A buyer leaves his show not just remembering the beautiful brooch they just snagged, but because they had fun while buying it. And that ladies and gents will be what makes them come back. Enjoy Brad’s reenactment of his favorite scene in The Mummy. All the goods! Product, price, personality, and excellent camera skills. Loved this! Christa. PatinaPastPurpose

The listing states it’s Jade “hued” which suggests to me the color of Jade. But someone could misconstrue it as Made of Jade.

I have a successful Whatnot seller account in which I sell vintage fishing tackle. I started using it to liquidate my late father’s horde of a collection. It’s gone beautifully! I had to create a second account PatinaPastPurpose to sell my favorites, costume Jewlery and vintage decor. But I can’t get viewers to save my life. I have a couple of Whatnot friends (VTH, Thrifted) who have consistently popped in. I appreciate them to no end (although they make me nervous…lol) but I can’t get other people to stay for more than 2 seconds. I’ve tried soooo many things. Memes, consistent thumbnails, tags, titles, items in my shop, different times of day and night, Whatnot promotes (don’t get me started on that). You name it. I can’t get more than 4 people in a show for more than 60 seconds, and frankly that has only happened twice! I have set up and ran 30 shows this summer and my highest show was $162. It was one woman snapping up $2 brooches for an hour. Had great conversations with her, (as much as you can w/chat) she was a lovely lady, and I appreciate her immensely, but I just can’t keep doing the look on the bright side BS anymore. I’m irritated. I sell successfully other places, (ebay, Etsy) but I love Whatnot’s format: When it works… So, rant out of my system now, I have decided to take a Whatnot sabbatical. At least on the stuff I love, gonna keep on keeping on with the fishing stuff. No more selling on PPP until I feel like I can take the abuse again. What does this mean to you lovely people? Nothing really, I just needed to vent. I appreciate the forum to do so and wish you all the best of sales! See y’all in the chats!

@Labelle Designs thanks for your comment. It is painful to hear the discussions about prices people paid. I try to set up what I know I can win or lose in and not have to worry about it. Accepting the concessions etc.

@Linda Michaels great information. Thank you!
PRIVATE AUCTION LATE NOTICE as usual 🫣
It's monthly private auction time again on Whatnot! Plain and simple, thank you so much for your Premium or VIP membership here! My family is eternally grateful for your support. WATCH YOUR DMs! All upgraded members will receive the private show link tomorrow morning. Guard it with your life. 😊 This low key auction is my favorite show of the month. Even better than Juliana, if you have been watching the mayhem this month... 😵‍💫 As many of you know, the Whatnot portion of my business is 95% consignment work. What this means is I still source when the opportunity presents itself, but I don't really sell my own wares to the public like I once did. Enter private auctions for Skoolers. I truly strive to make these auctions worth your while! $1 starts, free shipping, coupons, sudden death, add ons, over moderation, etc 🤣 I have loved every second of watching this group grow. The comeraderie and general jewelry knowledge-sharing goodwill has been off the charts. 🙏🏻👏🏻 If you wish to attend this thing, follow the link below or access your account membership settings by clicking the three dots at the corner of the page. No obligations or long period locks, you may cancel immediately following the auction if you wish! http://skool.com/jewelryiq/plans Warm regards from all of us at threefortytwo, so, uh, just Brad atm PS Fondly NOT written with the assistance of AI
