Long Weekends Tell The Truth
Long weekends are interesting. Our routines change. Schedules change. Travel happens. Family stuff comes up. It's easy to stay focused when life is predictable. The real question is what happens when it isn't. Do your priorities disappear for a few days? Do they adapt? Or do they stay intact? I'm not talking about being perfect. I'm talking about staying connected to what's important to you, even when life gets a little less structured. What's one thing you've stayed consistent with this long weekend?

Stay connected with family. I enjoy the routine of training during the regular work week but during the long weekends it’s an opportunity to break routine and enjoy time with my family. It’s a good reset and reward for being consistent with training. Coming back rested is a good way to resume the grind after a long weekend with loved ones.

Started tracking my macros. Weighed my food and ensure hit my macro targets. Learned how to lose weight for comp.
What's Your Current Bottleneck?
Right now, what's the one thing holding your jiu-jitsu back the most? Could be: - cardio - guard retention - mobility - consistency - confidence - recovery - a specific position If you could fix one thing over the next 90 days, what would it be?

Flexibility/mobility. I feel these would help improve my guard retention.
What Do Younger Athletes Get Wrong?
I don't think younger athletes need more motivation. I think they need better judgment. Most of us eventually learn the hard way that more isn't always better. What's a lesson you wish somebody had taught you 10 or 20 years earlier?

Have a purpose for each training session. Every session or roll doesn’t need to be competitive.
Training With Intent
Art mentioned something today that I really liked. When you’re rolling, having a focus is kind of like meditation. You drift. You get pulled into reactions. You forget what you were working on. Then you catch yourself and come back to it. That’s the point. Not every round has to be perfect. But if you keep returning to your focus, eventually it starts becoming how you train. What’s one thing you’re trying to keep coming back to in your rounds right now?

Similar to John. . . I’m trying to return to a guard that allows me to launch a sequence I know by heart. Right now it’s half/quarter guard > wrestle up or sweep.
