Judges 11- Vows
Perfect Blessed Monday Sons of God! This is a takeaway for sure, but more so a reflection on meditating on the Living Word. It can also be an open discussion as I would love to hear from you all as well🙏 On yesterdays deep teaching, we were instructed to read Judges 11- summary Jephthah’s vow and sacrifice. After reading and still meditating on it, a couple of questions started stirring up like: Why did his daughter ask for 2 months to wander with her companions and weep her virginity (she will not get married or have kids). Jephthah- He gave his daughter those 2 months to wander- part of delaying your vow to the Lord. He also didn’t follow the Law of Moses (Leviticus 5:4-6 and Leviticus 27: 1-8- repent and offer sacrifice or pay a specific amount to the treasury temple) Reflection: Did Jephthah say the wrong vow- even though The Lord asked for no such thing? Was he to quick to speak as we read in Ecclesiastes 5? Did he not know his covenant with the Lord that made him do this evil thing practice (sacrificing children- from the Canaanites) to serve the True Living God? His vow was not in alignment with our Righteous God.

After going back to read this story, you bring up very good questions and reflection saint Mary. I noticed a couple of things. One is that he says, "And when he saw her, he tore his clothes [in grief] and said, “Alas, my daughter! You have brought me great disaster, and you are the cause of ruin to me; for I have made a vow to the Lord, and I cannot take it back.” (Judges 11:35 AMP) "I have made a vow to the Lord and I cannot take it back." This shows the power of words and vows, especially when made in the moment . Once it's said, it cannot be erased or retrieved. Out of this same scripture, I noticed that the blame was shifted to his daughter. "YOU have brought me great disaster, and YOU are the cause of ruin to me;..." Would he have not thought that his only daughter would come to greet him when he came home? This is what I found while reading.

You can either comment on this post and start a string of comments sharing what you've learned from what we are teaching on YouTube livestreams, mini-courses, any moments where God Himself has spoken with you, etc. (Seeing what you are learning is really an engine of motivation for others... But to make it work well, let's try to keep it to about 4-5 sentences to respect how much someone can read at once)

I've been learning how to lean into and be present in silence rather than feeling like it has to always be filled. This goes hand in hand with the latest teaching on YouTube about the ability of consideration. Consideration is exercised in stillness with the Lord. Through this series I've learnt just how powerful this ability is and how to use it to a higher degree. Thank you Lord Jesus
