Does your kid like school?
One of the biggest stresses for us all is school (that includes teen and parent 😅). I actually work with a lot of homeschoolers who said their kids weren't a big fan of the system and they wanted to take education into their own hands. On the other hand, I work with some kids who love going to school everyday! Are your kids a fan of school?

It depends on the teachers, the topic, but also the season of life they are in, the friendships and much more.
The Hero's Journey - what quest are you proud of this year
"A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself." - Joseph Campbell It's getting awfully close to holiday season and that means a couple of things; 1. Time to reflect 2. The feeling that I don't have to reflect When we do find ourselves caught in these moments where life is overwhelming. Remember that these moments that challenge us and make us feel exhausted and worn out, are really moments that are helping build a wiser, stronger version of ourselves. We don't normally realise this until we look back into the past. When you do look back into the past (and present) of 2025, what is the quest or the challenge that you are most proud of for overcoming?

Thank you for this insight Jordan, thank you for making us look back and reflect. For me, I am most proud if having stood up for what is right and set strong boundaries.
You asked, we deliver (emotional regulation)
Emotional regulation and understanding the teen brain are currently in the classroom! If you want to understand your teen and have the exact scripts that you need to get the most out of their emotional and mental health - go and watch the videos and start walking through the scripts. WARNING: you may bring too much calm to the home! Post the wins when you're ready 🔥

I love the warning ... too much calm 😂
What’s something you wish you had been taught as a teenager?
I was chatting to a mum on Friday who homeschools her kids and I asked her why this is. She replied, "because I want to teach my kids life skills that would've helped me at school". I know one of the most common challenges with the modern school system is a lack of opportunity and freedom in learning skills, particularly life skills. So I ask, what is one thing you wish you learned at school when you were growing up?

How long have you got Jordan ... 😂 Ok if I had to pick one, I would say emotional regulation and thinking outside the box. It is interesting this very thing shapes us as parents. We try to teach/give out kids the things we feel we missed out on.
Breaking the Anxiety Cycle
Hey Purposeful Parents, if you're teen is feeling the pressure of the world on their shoulders right now and are caught in the anxiety, depression, shutdown cycle. Here's a video that will help break down some of the strategies that I use to manage anxiety in our teens. It will also help you to prime the right time to have those difficult conversations that may be upsetting and overwhelming for your teen. Check it out and let me know what you think!

This is excellent @Jordan Pickard, thank you so much for this, you explain it so well too! I was listening to a podcast the other day about how useful it is to learn from our primitive ancesters to identify our primal needs, and they used dance as an example, ie moving our body. What you are saying makes a lot of sense also in holistic terms, we cannot separate the mind and body. Thank you 🙏
