Buttons and button holes
OK, Friends…I’m seeking your advice. I’ve spent 2 hours layout, shopping, rethinking, and second-guessing….buttons and button placement. Hahaha My question: how did you decide how many buttons to use? Does the thickness of the button matter (to hold it together better)? Did you follow the pattern that button holes should be made at 2nd purl? If not, did you just layout to please the eye or another method? The buttons in the pictures are not my actual buttons. I don’t have 6-8 matching so this started my shopping for buttons. The buttons you see here are from my Gma’s button jar. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Have a great day!

@Pamela Barber Thank you. I think I have settled on 7 buttons. I’m trying to stick with the patterning Zanette taught (work buttons around the 2nd purl stitch). They don’t line up perfectly but look pretty good to me.

@Carina Herrling thank you! I am probably going to keep the top button and then look for 6 more that are complimentary. I hadn’t thought of putting one button at the bust and working out from there. Thank you for that tip.
A Change of plans for the MYAL Virtual Fashion Show
Hello my lovely MYAL knitters 🧶 I need to share a change of plan with you, and I want to be honest about why. It has been a difficult few days for me and I have been quite affected. Those of you who follow me on Instagram will very likely now what I am referring to. Right now, I am not in the right place to host a live celebration the way I planned. And I do not want that to take away from what this event was meant to be: a celebration of YOU and all the work you have done. For many of you, this was your first all-over colourwork sweater, your first steek, your first time trying something out of your comfort zone. And that deserves to be celebrated properly, not under a dark cloud. So here is what I would love you to do instead. Please reply to this thread with: ❤️ your favourite photo of your Rujuu Sweater, whether it is a WIP or FO. ✨ 3 words that describe your Rujuu knitting experience 🤔 One thing that surprised you (a challenge or a win) 💡 One thing you would do differently next time We will celebrate together here, on Skool, and I promise I will be cheering for each and every one of you. Thank you for your patience with me this week. I am so proud of what you have all made. 🤍

@Adele Wessel Your cardigan turned out beautiful. I am just about ready to start the button band. I’ve never done that before. Wish me luck :-)

So lovely!

I had finished the hem bit didn't like how it came out nor the length. Sooooo, I took the hem out and am repeating a version of chart 1. Got the idea from someone else's post and LOVED it.

What a great idea. I was thinking of doing only 1/2 of the Chart IV “flower motif section” because of the length it would make my sweater. But I think doing Chart I after the k1 uls section might be the trick. Thanks for mentioning this. I think your sweater looks awesome.
