Book Review - The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins
Hey all! Jorie and I have been doing book reviews with each other every week for quite a while and we wanted to let you in on the party. We are starting The Let Them Theory this week. Here’s how this works. We read a chapter a week and post what we learned or found interesting and if there’s anything we are going to try and incorporate. It doesn’t matter when you post. Just use this thread and put the chapter number first and then your thoughts. I love this format. Not only do you learn from the book, but you also get to see everyone else’s thoughts and ideas. It’s a win win! When we get close to the end, I will post a poll for the next book!

@Holly Lewis Chapter 2 - as soon as you try to control someone else's behavior you've lost; as soon as you stop taking responsibility for your own feelings and actions you're contributing to the drama. I can't control someone's thoughts or behaviors and I'm not supposed to. I observe and respond instead of judging and attacking.

@Jorie Feldman fear is sneaky and powerful which can be a devastating combination if you're not aware. (I may or may not know this first hand 😉)

@Holly Lewis interesting. Tech support told me to go to the web version on my phone instead of the app. So I uninstalled the app and now I'm accessing through chrome on my phone. So weird!
The importance of a regulated nervous system
I'm realizing more and more the importance of our nervous system when it comes to high performance. When your nervous system is activated by something, it's very important to finish the stress cycle instead of just cognitively pushing through. When you don't, this makes your nervous system more and more sensitive to triggers (which is generally ineffective). Sometime it's not possible to do it in the moment, but you can set aside time to take care of this. My favorite stress cycle finishing techniques are: 4-7-8 breathing Vibration Plate Punching bag Walking What are your thoughts about this? Do you have a favorite way to finish the stress cycle?

I go into cleaning mode. I need to get that energy out and if I can be productive at the same time, then bonus.

At home I have started "the everyone puts their own dishes in the dishwasher" project. The dishwasher is a mess and I don't care. I just run it like it is - even though it's loaded all wrong 🤣

@Holly Lewis now that I'm fasting I'm also not bogged down with making and eating dinner every night. I've been going on Skool, preparing food for the week, getting in Zoom calls 😊 all sorts of things. What I need to do is use the time for strategic work in Back to Work.
