Thoughts on finding creative ways to source more items.
It seems like many people are looking for new ways to source more items. I hear often on here about those who are looking for ways to buy "Wholesale". Here are just a few thoughts that you might want to consider. I believe that when a person starts to struggle with sourcing enough items, they should first look along the routes that they already source. Have there been thrift stores in the past that you no longer frequent? Maybe pricing seemed high, or not enough items. What ever the reason might be, things change. Give these stores another chance. Maybe you will feel the same way after visiting again, but just maybe things may have changed at these stores and there are worth your time to shop at now. This will allow you to remain in your normal sourcing routes with very little extra time. Second way to improve sourcing, is to map out nearby towns that you currently do not source at. Yes, they may be in the opposite direction that you currently source in, but you may be able to shop one extra day in this town and hit up several more stores. Third way to improve sourcing, is to stay in your normal routes, but add just one new category that you currently don't source in. Lets say you are a men's jeans and shirts seller. look at adding Men's shoes, Ties, Suits, or Jackets. Maybe you already list all men's type items of clothing and shoes, consider adding just one category of women's clothing items. Maybe shoes, or dresses. I would suggest only adding one category until you get past the learning curve on the new category. This is one that will take the least amount of time to improve sourcing. You are already in the store already, you just look in new area of the store that you usually don't bother to source in. Think outside the box a little with these categories, maybe its watches, video games, other electronics? Hope this helps someone.
