UPDATE! Fantasy Trilogy Time!
My life feels as though it’s in two places. One is in the reality and the other is in the world that I have created for my fantasy trilogy! There are times when I forget and wander to lands with chaos and where things don’t always make sense. Maybe I veer off to the world I’ve created because so much of it connects back to myself, the troubles I’ve gone through and what’s happening in this reality. Isn’t that strange how we are able to put pieces of ourselves into characters and yet they are all individuals but connected in some way! The reason I bring this up is that my trilogy is about unity and how all of us are connected. The story for Book 1 focuses on Ezra, the main character who is the chosen one to bring other fated ones together. Her life hadn’t been pleasant since the country she grew up saw her as a demon, something that was condemning them. Her eyes are yellow and in the old scripture, her country read it as though she’s the reason that the void has crashed full force onto the world. Even after being casted aside, she wants to help others and begins her journey looking for the other chosen ones. Now, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this! And if you’re working on a book or have a published book, write a synopsis in the comments so that we can learn more about one another’s books! Let’s give one another our thoughts on their work! 💭
UPDATE! Fantasy Trilogy Time!

Ok - I have two projects that are multi-book - both equine fantasy/mythology related and . One is the planned trilogy that I've recently come up with and have mentioned in other posts. Details later. The other is the multi book series with possible spin-offs and stand alones that I've mentioned and told you about when we met a bit (at least 6 books planned, and maybe more given I write epic fantasy, 3 in progress due to the fact that I had to split book 1 multiple times.) I've had moments of getting lost/absorbed in the story/plotting like you describe - as I said in a previous post - that is the case currently. I adore world-building, especially species design/concept building - and I've got plenty of ideas for those as part of my fantasy realm. I'm revising concepts for the first books in the series - which I will post once they're completed.
Is Reading Books Helpful While Writing? ✍️
I know that some people have mixed feelings on this since they may feel that their voice is being overshadowed by the work they have been reading. Instead of using their personal writing style, they end up copying the style that the author writes in the book that they are reading. 📖 What are your thoughts? Do you think it's beneficial to read books while you are writing? ✍️ If so, should we read books that are similar to the topic or genre that we are writing in? Or should it be something to help us in different ways, such as a self help book? 📕 Personally I think this depends solely on the individual. There have been times where I couldn't read other books while writing since I knew that I would try to replicate the writing style. However, as of now and sometimes in the past, I've read books on the side while writing. As I'm writing my Fantasy trilogy book series, I'm reading some books on the side. However, the books that I'm reading have nothing to do with my genre, or topic. One is focused on writing techniques, while another I'm reading is more for understanding the stock market. Yes - definitely. I read a lot of fiction, particularly relating to equines - both mythical/fantasy and in general. Both helpful to understand what has gone before to stand out, but it can be useful for inspiration.
Caught up in Your OWN Story?!
Have you ever been swept away by your own story? To the point that you get excited or that you’re being teleported to the lands that you’ve created? I have and it’s a ride! Since I’m writing a fantasy trilogy book series, I’m thinking about the place, characters and what happens pretty regularly. There are days where I get taken away in my mind to the word I have created! It’s exciting yet a bit scary! 🫣 I forget reality. So, what I’ve been working on is having my time for book writing and then remember to have time with my present life as well. Taking 3 calm breaths is a way to help me get grounded and to remind me that my present life is just as important as the stories that I create. So, tell me a time that you got wrapped up in your story. Let’s hear about each other’s excitement and joy from their stories no matter what kind of story it is! ❤️

@Dani Rosenblad James And actually - as a example - just had a brilliant idea for a novel this evening. A re-telling of the myth of Pegasus - as a memoir. Already losing myself in brainstorming and research

Ok - this is me at the moment with my latest project, absolutely absorbed and obsessed research-wise. At the start of the new year (and as of my last message - it was a tentative idea as a result of a conversation between me and a fellow writer). I've been eating, breathing and sleeping Greek Myths ever since, sometimes late into the night 4 weeks have passed. I'm well into my draft for the first book, but I already have a frame for a sequel and most of a plot, and a concept for a trilogy around the immortal and devine equines of Greek mythology and a huge amount of world building and character planning done. Title - The Athanatoi Equi Trilogy. More details at some point.

Do you have ADHD or Trouble Focusing?
Me me me!❤️😁 How many of you in here have dealt with keeping attention, you lose your interest in something quite quickly? To be completely honest I haven’t been diagnosed with ADHD. However, as I was recovering from my traumatic brain injury, multiple doctors asked me if I had it. They did that because many of the tests that I had to do where I had to stay focused for longer periods of time, I couldn’t keep my attention on it. 😵‍💫 I just saw it as such a bore when I could easily escape by going to my mind and wandering in La La Land. 🎶 So that’s why I’m 90% sure that I have it and you know what?! I see it as a superpower. 🦸‍♀️ I’ve always been able to hyper focus on something and give it 200%. This is a good thing and it can be a bad thing as well since you may disconnect from reality. However, when it comes to writing a book, wouldn’t it be nice to give 200%? You’re able to accomplish so much more in such a smaller timeframe. You’re able to give all of your attention to what you’re writing, give your whole heart to it. ✍️ ❤️ So, what’s wrong with that? I want people to see these instances where we have problems with attention, ADHD, or whatever else that we can use it to our advantage instead of seeing it as something that is crippling us. 🛑 When it comes to writing a book, I know attention is really hard to keep focus on it. But, staying consistent with it still matters and once you do this for over 21 days, then you’ve created a habit! 😁 This is another reason why I’m so adamant on writing daily and you know what, sometimes it doesn’t work for you and that’s OK. You can work on your manuscript a couple times a week. The big thing for this though is you have to stay consistent with it. So, let’s say that you decide to do it Tuesdays and Wednesdays around 9 AM. Then stay consistent with the time in the dedicated days of the week. This helps it become a habit. On top of that, it’s good to choose the same place to do this. Have it as your writing sanctuary, your writing safe place, whatever you want to call it.

I'm autistic and probably also ADHD as well, amongst over things - mostly self diagnosed, but I can be unfocused or very focused.

Well - I'm still working that out to an extent , but so far - concentrate on what I'm passionate about. Recently I realised that I'm a world-builder first and an author second (well, I think subconsciously some part of me knew all along - just needed to think about it) - I spent ages creating my fantasy world before I finally got to the point that a character came along that I found compelling enough to write a novel about .
