Surcharges and Discounts
Lots of businesses in general like to add charges when paying with a card. The *type* of card matters. The difference being credit or debit. Check your states laws regarding adding a fee for those paying with *credit* cards. Also check the rules for the card network- Visa, MC, AE, etc. They may have caps on charges or not allow surcharges. Debit card fees are generally *illegal* thanks to the Durbin Amendment. Look it up. Discounts are favored over surcharges. For example- My menu says $7. It also says "credit card purchases are menu price + tax + Square fee of 2.6% + 15 cents". I.e. Cash price is $7 *including* tax therefore a cash discount because the tax (in my county and state) on $6.56 is $0.44 for a total of $7. Double check with you POS provider, card network, state, county, and local laws for what you are required to add and what you cannot add.

We pay none of those fees. Square allows the business to put that charge on the customer. They all know by now. I think credit card fee are illegal; however, the government lets them do it.

Michael has been preaching this for years. Still people don't listen to him. They over complicate everything, and their business suffers.

8 oz Sample bottles!!🍋🍊🍇🍓
So, I decided to bottle up some of my fruit infused lemonade in 8 oz bottles to give out as samples to hand out just to get the word of mouth out there and have people try my lemonade and see what they think. Any thoughts or tips or advise about this idea?

I think that's a bad idea. Most people have an idea of what lemonade tastes like. If they like it they'll buy more the next time they see you. Also 8oz is a portion. That's way too much of a sample. If you have to sample it, use those small paper cups, and make sure you hand them out.

@Christopher Dyson Why do you insist on cheapening your product and your labor? You call your lemonade fruit infused which sounds special, then discount it like its bargain brand. If you sell it for $4, you won't turn a profit.

@John Foster Just try something. Make your own list. Go to Sams, BJs, or Costcos. Keep it simple until you find out what works in your area.
