Surcharges and Discounts
Lots of businesses in general like to add charges when paying with a card. The *type* of card matters. The difference being credit or debit. Check your states laws regarding adding a fee for those paying with *credit* cards. Also check the rules for the card network- Visa, MC, AE, etc. They may have caps on charges or not allow surcharges. Debit card fees are generally *illegal* thanks to the Durbin Amendment. Look it up. Discounts are favored over surcharges. For example- My menu says $7. It also says "credit card purchases are menu price + tax + Square fee of 2.6% + 15 cents". I.e. Cash price is $7 *including* tax therefore a cash discount because the tax (in my county and state) on $6.56 is $0.44 for a total of $7. Double check with you POS provider, card network, state, county, and local laws for what you are required to add and what you cannot add.

@Bryan Pearce debit card fees are illegal because they are considered same as cash as it is directly debited from the owners account. Credit card fees are legal but have rules and limitations.

@Bryan Pearce You can pass the 2.6% + 15 cents on to the customer but Square will *always* charge you 2.6% + 15 cents on the *total cost* of what the customer pays- Including taxes and tips and the passed on Square fee.
8 oz Sample bottles!!πŸ‹πŸŠπŸ‡πŸ“
So, I decided to bottle up some of my fruit infused lemonade in 8 oz bottles to give out as samples to hand out just to get the word of mouth out there and have people try my lemonade and see what they think. Any thoughts or tips or advise about this idea?

Closing Down...
Sometimes... my heart gets ahead of my head. And my head ain't nothing to brag about. 😜 I spend most of my time answering phone calls and helping vendors. Most of my time is inside https://vendorsunited.com (my favorite place) - and I simply have not had time to devote as much time here... as it needs. I hope you can understand. I'll be shutting this down in a few days. You can still reach me by text at 865.446.0660 - Facebook - (inside VendorsUnited) & Youtube. Happy Happy Holidays & Much Love! ~ Ben

Seems like everyone on this side of it was doing fine with it @Ben Wilson . Can you drop it to the less expensive account and keep it going for us to the end of the year? Pretty please?
Accepting payment
I hesitate to ask this cause it is probably pretty elementary with most of you folks . . but I'm pretty elementary myself, in this vending business. When you have a "line" at your booth - how do you handle the payment process? Do you take payment first, last, . . and if the sale is a card transaction, is the customer involved or do you do the whole deal? Does this make sense??

I ALWAYS take payment first- line or no line. If they ask if I prefer cash or card I always say card ESPECIALLY when there is a line. It's faster than cash (if you have good cell/wi-fi service). You never touch the card. They either tap or dip it. I face the tablet to them AFTER I see the payment was accepted and I start on their order right away.
