Corticosteroid Shots?
Hello all. Does anyone here have any experience with Corticosteroid shots? My niece was over here this afternoon helping out her ailing aunt and uncle (because we have no children & she is an angel) and she was telling me about them. I’m having severe nerve pain in my lower back/spine (I still don’t understand the difference between “back” and “spine”). I’d love to hear from all of you if you have experience with these shots. I’ve still got at least 4 or 5 more physio appointments but I’m not seeing any improvement yet.

@Jim Smith definitely a temporary solution. I've had many in my wrists. Mine last 18 months but that very atypical

@Jim Smith it's worth trying the shots.
Accountability Call Replay - June 11, 2026
A bit of an unusual call yesterday! Not many people were able to make it so the call was a chat with the few who could make it! Weekly Wins (many people shared their wins with me outside of the call so am posting those here too): @Ryan Muir did his arm bike 2/3 times and had garden boxes built in his backyard in preparation for an attempt at planting veggies! @Nolan Watson has been consistent with his audio mixing and is staying semi-consistent with his poetry and reading. @Melinda Haus performed with her choir during the weekend even in the midst of an upcoming surgery! @Jim Smith attended every workout session this week except for one, went to physio twice, and planted 95% of his flowers! @Brittney Neunzig managed to make sense of 20 scientific studies on nutrition after SCI and draft an outline for her youtube video as well as completing the content for lesson two in the nutrition workshop!

@Chris Fraser I know you're busy and try to work out with Julie so don't feel obligated to show up to mine! I'd love it if you did though!

@Jim Smith you are already stronger than me. You have more muscle mass on every part of your body and should, objectively, be able to lift more weight. A 5 lb weight is a good start but won't do much long term to build muscle which is the point lol.

@Jim Smith oh no sounds like nerve pain. Definitely do what your body can do and don't push it. I'm not supposed to lift more than 8 lbs overhead either for shoulder protection. I'd say focus on your diet if your body is feeling rough. Anti-inflammatory foods and no sugar or processed junk (do your best).
Lymphodima
Does anyone else suffer with lymphodima? Picture on the left is last night with calves swollen, right leg which is my bad leg and on the right this morning. Usually pass 1000ml of urine during the night. It was a lot worst December 2024 but after wearing compression stockings I managed to get it under control to where I am now.

Swelling is pretty typical in paralysis, but passing that much water at night from the swelling must be annoying. Dandelion tea is a good diuretic thet doesn't deplete electrolytes! Maybe give that a try!
Been Busy
Sorry I've missed the workouts this week (and will miss accountability today). I've been recovering after a long concert weekend - my win for the week! I'm also preparing for surgery on Monday so just a busy week. My goal for the next week is to keep my protein intake up and keep practicing good mental health habits. Here's a couple pictures from our concert.
