Kilohearts Essentials - worth a try?
I wonder if anyone here has tried Kilohearts Essentials and could give a newbie like me some insight into whether it's worth using. I'm currently learning mixing and I'm trying to figure out which tools are genuinely useful and which ones are more of a distraction for beginners.

I use them also. Their gain & limiter are go to. I find that they are clean and don't mess up the signal like some other gains & limiters.
Laying Bass tracks
I’m being asked too lay some bass-lines for artist albums and singles etc.. anyone have an idea what bass players are charging for this service these days? Thanks y’all!

I see this is an older post but I found the topic to be very relevant as I am in the same boat presently. To add some contrast, in jazz it was a completely different story. The session players would get paid for the their studio time and that was it. Imagine how much more money they would have earned if they insisted on getting composer credits and royalties. They probably wouldn't be on the classic records we hear today had they made such demands. I guess times are changing. Are indie artists out there that cool that they would even considera agreeing to a session player's claim for composers credits for a bass line? what about the drummer who put an unwritten fill in before the chorus? At some point, it gets to be ridiculous, no? I personally wouldn't go as far as to demand composer credits for an improvized bass line? Is this customary now in some genres?
Free plugin email
I was just going thru my email and I saw the email about the free Baby Audio plugin - Super VHS - that Rob sent out yesterday...seems like a pretty cool plugin...when I went to apply the coupon code...it gave me an error - saying it wasn't valid...has anybody else had this issue?

Yes. Same error. Says code you entered is not valid.

doesn't by mean the date inclusive? can't believe it's a time zone thing. that doesn't seem right. I tried last night at 9PM EST. May 1st hadn't arrived anywhere in the USA at that time. Baby Audio is based in CA. Can we get a new code guys?
New event: Mixing with Channel Strips 🎛️
Hey everyone, We're hosting a brand new, free 3-day event next week called Mixing with Channel Strips. It starts Monday Dec 15th at 10am Eastern (earlier than usual). I'll be mixing a song from start to finish, using only channel strips. This is a great way to force yourself to focus on core principles, while also keeping things simple and adding analog character. On day 3, we'll also master the track, and listen to your submitted mixes, with prizes for the best. This event is hosted in partnership with SSL and Slate Digital, and I'll be using a range of channel iconic channels trips from both companies (software and hardware). You can find the event here in the Calendar tab, or click the link below to go straight there. Then you can add it to your personal calendar and grab the Zoom link. https://www.skool.com/mastering/calendar?eid=89f5cc1651404379b25f7ba9c89c1a8f&eoid=1765810800 See you there! Rob
