Mastering a good mix
I'm interested to know what a mastering engineer would typically do if they are working with a client that is providing (effectively) mastered mixes. How does the mastering engineer typically add value in that relationship/engagement. - Are they offering suggestions on the mix? - Are they saying "Good Job" and sending an invoice? - Are they providing a set of alternatives, including the appropriately levelled mix for the Artist's reference? - Are they doing something else? Thanks :)

I think it depends on what "effectively mastered" is. My assumption here is that it's largely related to EQ balance and dynamic control. This, to me, means that we've got the PI in PIE (problems, inconsistencies, enhancements) covered, which means enhancements are up next. At that point, it's probably about getting up to industry/genre loudness and making any subtle changes, like saturation, maybe a second opinion on tonal balance? There are also other things, like preparing the audio for vinyl or other media, which might have its own characteristics.
What style of music do you create?
What's going on y'all? I am curious to see what types of musical creatives we have in this space! I myself personally create in a few different styles myself... Anywhere from more of a singer songwriter type of vibe, to a rap/ hip hop style, and occasionally get a little more aggressive with some rock and metal type tracks as well. Currently in the process of learning to play the guitar and drums as well as learning how to create beats, record and process my vocals, mix, aaaand master... ya know... the whole sha-bang! 😅🤣 Trying to be a one stop shop without having a need to outsource anything in my creative process. I have a toooon of ideas in my head just need to learn the proper skills to be able to translate... So here I am and I have never been more excited about learning in my life! LFG Gang!🤘 We can all make it if we stay consistent with it 💪

Probably should call it alt-metal? I feel like it fits with the genre, but it's all electronic
