What everyone forgets is that the more "evil" you are the more "good" you must appear to be in order to do the "evil" you want to do and get away with it. Think of a paedophile trying to groom a child. They have to appear to be the nicest most generous most kind most caring person to be effective and get what they want, which is to rape a child. The most obvious example of this is politicians. Nixon Regan Thatcher Blair both Bushes both Clinton's Obama Biden Starmer and Trump - if you look at their actual policies and the effect they had on humanity their actions were objectively evil. Yet they got into power by smiling smiles that never reached their eyes, kissing babies and telling voters how much they cared about them and how hard they would work to make their lives better. It's like I always say about virtue signalling - the only people who feel the need to signal that they are a good person are people who know deep down that they are NOT a good person. So as soon as I see someone going out of their way to appear to be kind and generous and morally superior I KNOW that they are the opposite of those things. Because truly kind generous morally upstanding people (they would never consider themselves morally superior) are invisible. They do their good anonymously, quietly even silently with no fanfare. Or as the Actual-Christ put it ""And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others."

The problem with Buddhism is that its framing of God as "Non Self" means that true Devotion is impossible. Emptiness is profound but you can hardly be devoted to it. Whereas Vedanta's framing of God as "The Self" allows for the exquisite ecstatic enraptured bliss of the dance of the lover and the beloved, the created and creator, the soul and God. Like Vedanta, The Way of Mastery is ultimately a Bhakti Yoga ie Union through Devotion path.
