The problem with Buddhism is that its framing of God as "Non Self" means that true Devotion is impossible. Emptiness is profound but you can hardly be devoted to it.
Whereas Vedanta's framing of God as "The Self" allows for the exquisite ecstatic enraptured bliss of the dance of the lover and the beloved, the created and creator, the soul and God.
Like Vedanta, The Way of Mastery is ultimately a Bhakti Yoga ie Union through Devotion path.
