Introduction
Who you are and what you do? 🤔 (Please give a BRIEF description) My name is Andrew Northup, US Army Infantry veteran, soon to be married (July 31st) becoming an instant dad to 2 wonderful girls (9&7). I am a dog trainer with the emphasis on police K9 dogs and their handlers. I retired 3 years ago after spending 22 years as a cop in California. My goal now is to become the leader I was at work in my home.
I'm reading John Maxwell's, No Limits
This book is about maximizing your capacity and pulling out the potential in others! I believe we should be good stewards of other people's gifts and talents! This book is inspiring to say the least! A quote from it: "When do I need to be at full energy? It's vital to increase your energy as much as possible. It's also crucial to use the energy you have wisely. Every day I look at my calendar and determine the times that will be crucial to my success and that's when I give 100%. That's the only way you'll reach your capacity." Great stuff!

Love it! Someone once said a relationship was 50/50, and when my marriage was struggling I said that same thing to my mom. She immediately corrected me and said a marriage is 100/100. And, regardless of what the other is giving, your job, especially as a husband, is to show up everyday and give 100 percent.

Just a few months ago, my wife and I were one signature away from divorce…the biggest reason, me failing to lead my family in a biblical way. It wasn’t because I didn’t know how, I’ve lead in the military and in law enforcement for 22yrs, it was because I was lazy. I put my efforts into everything else except leading my family. Fast forward to over a month ago when my wife and I reconciled, and, thanks to new heart postures only brought on by the power of prayer and the all mighty God, we are living our best marriage in 16 years. Woman want men to lead, all the time. Open doors for them, make decisions and let them be the feminine people God designed them to be.
