💫✌🏾✨ Peace & Greetings All.., I’m most commonly known as “BRAVE MONK”. An artist, Visionary, B-boy, Host/Emcee and Educator based in Chicago. A member of Chicago’s legendary and internationally recognized breaking crew Phaze II Crosstown Crew (est. 1982) and co-founding Artistic Director of BraveSoul Movement. 🌎 I call Chicago aka the "CHI" my residence and the 💫🪐 Multi-Unified 🌌 [Universe] my home✨. Originally born in a town called "Normal", (I am) "the furthest thing from Normal" LoL... 👟 I have 28 + Yrs focused in Dance & a Lifetime of Movement. Inspired in a lot of ways by Bruce Lee & more directly my older brother who was into & did both Hip-Hop & Martial Arts. I saw Movement as a Language & Started doing the 💫🌪️Backspin & the 🪱Worm in Kindergarten & 🥋Tae Kwon Do by the Age of 4..! My movement vocabulary is rooted in Original Manifestational “Black” American urban vernacular dance forms including My 🔼♻️🙏🏾 Trinity of Movement Breaking, Hip-Hop Freestyle + Social Dancing and House..! I also of course draw on influence & training from various Martial Arts and other embodied Afro-diasporic movement languages.! I am licensed in 5 fitness formats and have been doing Martial Arts off and on since 4yrs of age. In the last 5 + years I’ve mainly focused & trained in Jun Fan Gung Fu, Wing Chun, some Kali/Escrima & Jeet Kune Do Concepts + Philosophy.📜🧠💭 🎵 The Track that just does it for me & is a perfect capture of Voice, Culture, Soul, Blackness, Funk, Churrrch, Community, Zone in, Bug Out & Go Off is... James Brown — Get Up, Get Into It, Get Involved..! 🔊💫🪩🎙🕺🏽🎶🌟👟❤️‍🔥🔥🔥🔥✨ 🎯 I actually had come across this community while it was still in infancy several times & happen to come across it again, most recently this Month to see that it was Active & in Motion..! 🪄Simultaneously the ⏰ Time Abstrak was in 🌇 Chicagoland area 🥋teaching a Workshop that my Crew & OG "Wicked" from PHAZE II had Hosted 🤩 📸 popped up on my 💻 Facebook ⏳Timeline from 🗓12 yrs ago. I Call that 🙏🏾♾✨Divine Timing & That Made me Excited..! Of course I got Madd Luv, Respect, Admiration, Inspiration & a FreQuency of Elevated vibrations for my Brotha "ABStrak" & want to see what Can be Cultivated when we Truly start Aligning & Building in Real Authentic Wayz.. Movement is just one of those Pathways..
