Finally Landed a Remote Gig
Hello everyone, I’m happy to say I was able to land a full time remote job! It was a long journey, filled with ambiguity and for myself had quite a bit of risk involved. I left my job a few months before landing my remote job. I was stuck in a job I hated in a city that I couldn’t justify the high cost and low value for. So in my case necessity was the mother of invention, but I don’t suggest taking the same route. It’s still early days for myself, but I am starting to see a way out. If anything at least a little breathing room to build the life that I want. I’m hoping in the coming months things will start to turn in my favor, just keeping my head down while having a greater vision in mind. We’re all on the same journey, so I hope your time will come as well!

Meetups?
I think one of the biggest issues with being a digital nomad that most people don't talk about is the loneliness you feel. That'swhy I thought, and I don't know if this is going to resonate with anybody, but maybe in the future we can have a section in this program and group to schedule short-term and long-term meetups. For example, if I wanted to move to Vietnam. I think it would be great to plan meetups with people if you are in that City, but what would be really nice is if several of us plan to move to the same city, we could have a little group or tribe. I don't know about the rest of you feel but that would make things so much easier for me and make me feel more at home and more confident in a move to a foreign place where I don't know anybody and have no resources or friends and don't know how anything works.

💯 love the thought behind the idea
Ranking Cities to work Remotely in South East Asia
I'm going to rank cities in Asia that i've spent time in taking into consideration, food, transport, internet access, co working, accommodation, cost of living. Let me know if you agree or disagree -Kuala Lumpur 8.7/10 (best cost of living ratio. Not as cheap as thailand but best value) -Bangkok 6/10 (Great night markets but not for me) -Jakarta 6.5/10 (A lot of people don't like it but i may be bias as i know people there) -Phuket 5/10 (Beaches aren't that great and it gets pretty wild there, too many distractions) -Langkawi 7/10 (If you're looking for an Island that's chill, a great spot) -Bali 7/10 (So Canguu and Ubud are polar opposites but overall you'll meet other entrepreneurs or remote workers so personally i like it for the networking. Has nice villas and waterfalls too) -Penang 5/10 (Penang isn't bad it's just you'll likely spend your time in Georgetown which has a cool vibe. I think it's a bit limiting and there are other places i'd rather spend my time) -Chiang Mai 9/10 (Doesn't have a beach but in the Chang Khlan area it's easy to build community. Great food and wifi was mostly reliable)

Is there a fair amount of English being spoken at most of these places?
My Biggest Win Yet
I’m so happy to announce that I got engaged! Did the most scariest thing and proposed to my gf in a festival on stage in front of 30,000 people, but it was the best moment of my life. Met her in Japan while working remote, you never know how your life can turn around and give you blessings if you make the leap to explore this world. Maybe you are the next lucky person 👀

Currently posted up on the Big Island for 3 weeks! not the cheapest nomad spot out there, but we’re here visiting my grandparents (in their 80s) and staying at a family friend’s Airbnb we scored for a wild deal 🙏🏽 Definitely more laid-back and affordable than Oahu or Maui, and while it’s not the best if you’re trying to stretch your dollar long-term, it’s been amazing to blend family time, a change of scenery, and remote work. Sometimes remote freedom isn’t about geo-hacking the cheapest city it’s about using the flexibility to be where it matters. Just grateful we can work from anywhere…🏝️🙌
