Coffee?
What's everyone's thoughts on coffee/caffeine? I love my morning coffee but I'm not sure if it's serving me...

I'm hyper sensitive to caffeine. The only time I drink it is when my circadian rhythm gets messed up to help push my sleep forward and reset. Otherwise, I avoid it entirely.
What app do y’all use for tracking nutrients?
Is there a good app you all use for tracking meals, calories, nutrients; etc? Last time I was doing it we used MyFitnessPal, but that’s been a while. Bonus pics of me and the wife in Columbus, OH this weekend, eating at 4th & State Diner, a super delicious vegan restaurant downtown.

What loss have you grown through?
You're going through a breakup, someone you love died, you lost your job, or it feels like the world is crumbling around you. That isn't to make light of what you're going through. But often the hardest seasons of our lives become the ones that shape us the most. For me, losing my dad and losing a relationship that was tied to my identity forced me to grow into a different version of myself. Looking back, those losses were painful, but they also helped create opportunities for growth that I never would have experienced otherwise. I've come to believe that we don't just go through hard things, we can grow through them. What loss, setback, or difficult season have you grown through, and what did it teach you?

I lost my freedom. Some would argue I gave it up, but it was the inevitable end of a long train of deteriorating identity, purpose, meaning, stability, existential bearings, and general mental health. I was young and completely lost to myself and ended up holding up a gas station for reasons that were steeped in delusion. I got 10 years in the Kentucky DOC. A lot of good came from it, though, and I did learn a lot. I had a spiritually transformative experience (STE) at the beginning that ignited my own personal, authentic spiritual journey. I learned patience, perseverance, respect for myself and others, who I was, how to deal with difficult people, how to build and enforce strong personal boundaries, and that people are different and unique but also very similar in certain ways. I found lasting friendships, brotherhood in dark times, and a strong faith that has served me every day of my life. Was it hard? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I change anything? Not if it meant losing the lessons and strength I gained from it all. My past doesn't define me, but it did shape me, and for that, I'm thankful.
80/10/10?
What do yall think about the 80/10/10 diet? (80% calories from carbs, 10% fat, 10% protein).
How much protein do vegans really need?
I think it comes down to what are your goals, but also, what are you currently eating? A lot of vegans are eating things like beans, nuts, peanut butter, oats, whole grains, and they're saying this is how I get my protein on a vegan diet. And the detail we should pay attention to is, those foods listed above are comprised of more than just protein. When you get nuts, you're getting more fat than protein. When you're eating beans, you're getting more carbs than protein. And so, you're setting yourself up for a not-a-very-high-protein diet. So, how much protein do you need? I still believe it depends on your goals. If you're just trying to live to a ripe old age, 50 grams of protein a day is probably great for most. But if you're really trying to build muscle, if you want to grow in the gym, if you want to start hitting PRs, if you want to stop being skinny fat, I stick with the tried-and-true 0.8 to 1 gram per pound of body weight per day. It seems to be working really well. I've done it with myself, with other pro-level vegan bodybuilders, and over 500 clients. If someone you know haven’t yet seen my High-Protein Vegan Recipes book, grab it here: https://vegansquadcoaching.com/cookbook I’d love to know what your favorite source of protein is currently!

This seems logical, but I often wonder, what about babies who double their weight in 6 months off of breastmilk alone, which is only 6% calories from protein, or gorillas, which are like one of the strongest mammals pound for pound, that subsist on a diet mainly of bananas, berries, young leaves, and a few grubs here and there?
