“Being her rock”
I’m working on chapter 1 and curious if ppl have a phrase they resonate with more. I think much of society expects men to being mostly emotionless, besides anger, resulting in lack of emotional literacy. I might call this being a rock or her rock. Is a phrasing that feels more familiar?

Interesting perspective. I've always understood "being someone's rock" to mean being a stable and consistent presence in their life, not being emotionless. To me, emotional suppression and emotional stability are two very different things. Someone can be emotionally aware, express their feelings, and still be a source of stability for the people they care about.
Nov. 1, 2024 - Grocery Shopping
- I'm grateful for his consideration: He took the time to prioritize our grocery budget by choosing not to buy the ginger snap cookies when they weren't on sale. - I'm grateful for his communication: He informed me about the out-of-stock ground beef, keeping me in the loop and showing he values transparency. - I'm grateful for his initiative: He took the extra effort to find a device that could help with my physical needs, demonstrating his support and understanding of my limitations. - I'm grateful for his resourcefulness: He figured out the breakdown on the three-pack of cucumbers, showing his willingness to make the best use of our resources and minimize waste. - I'm grateful for his problem-solving skills: He found alternatives and solutions at the store, which reflects his commitment to helping me with our grocery needs. - I'm grateful for his thoughtfulness: His actions show that he cares about my preferences and well-being, reinforcing our partnership in managing household tasks.
Oct. 29 - Surprise Reset of the Main Floor After Bedtime
- Identified items that were out of place (e.g., dishes in the living room) - Decided whether items belonged in the kitchen, living room, or elsewhere - Recalled where specific items should go, especially if there are multiple storage locations - Determined the order of tasks (e.g., should he wipe down surfaces before or after putting things away?) - Decided which cleaning supplies to use for different surfaces (e.g., countertops versus glass) - Gauged how long each cleaning task would take and balanced that with other responsibilities. - Grouped similar items for me to deal with the next day - Decided which areas needed the most attention based on use or visibility - Remembered the system for where items go (e.g., always placing mail on a specific counter)

- remembered to buy dog food - Worked out an alternate route to an appointment today so that I could maybe make my appointment while I was at preschool with B - Reviewed our trailer set up with papa in case I needed any help w anything while C was at work - Chose to prioritize having dinner and quality time w our family over helping someone else with a task

- thought to bring additional blankets to keep us warm during our fall camping trip - Realized propane tanks were empty and took on the responsibility to ensure they were filled prior to our camping trip - Remembered to pack extra nappies - Thought to prioritize using the yellow towels in the trailer rather than wasting time searching for the blue ones
