Monday, I finished scuffing the tailgate, and yesterday, I was able to mask off the FORD letters so that I can paint the them and bury it under the clearcoat. I sprayed the letters with a couple light coats of Wimbledon White and then a couple medium coats. After it flashed off, I unmasked it and found a few small areas that bled under the tape edges, and one area where the line was crooked. I was really frustrated, so I got the wife to take a look at it. She suggested sanding. I have to give her credit, it was a great idea. I got my 800 grit on the soft pad from the booth box, and carefully was able to clean up the edges. It only took a few minutes, but I thought it came out really pretty nice. After wiping it down, and tacking it off, I sprayed it with a couple coats of clear. No runs, and only a bit of orange peel. Painting the letters and burying them under the clear was a lot of work, but it looks great and I'm super happy with how it came out.

Hey, I hope everyone is having a fantastic Monday. I just finished the module on setup, and I understand and appreciate that most of the result comes down to your environment and setup, and that outside is really just for practice. I live in an apartment, so outside is pretty much my only option right now. What do you think of the mobile business model? Do you think it could bring good results on smaller areas and SMART jobs, assuming enough experience and controlling the surroundings as best as possible or if at all possible (blocking wind and contaminants, keeping an eye out for weather/time of day, temperature, humidity, and so on)? And if ya’ll think it's possible, does anyone have any advice on how to go about it? Thank you.

Just left on my two- or three-day trip to pick up the used paint booth setup I purchased in June. My first stop is in 300 miles to pick up a secondhand refrigerated air dryer. Then I’ll continue another couple of hours to the small town where the pile of equipment is. It will be a long day because vans with trailers are limited to 50 mph in Finland.

Anyone have experience with this Primer? It's supposedly a hybrid Epoxy Polyester primer. Before joining Make it Match, I purchased a gallon of this stuff for my current build (Fiberglass body dune buggy). I just read through the classroom section on primers and learned that Polyester may not be the best primer to use on Fiberglass. Looking at the TDS, it does include Fiberglass in the substrates its suitable for. Would love to know your thoughts @Aaron Jokela and I apologize for the number of questions lately. Seems that every Saturday I have other commitments that I can't join the weekly call. BTW TDS sheet link is here

My project truck, El Guapo, is a 1986 F150 that was started back in 2010 and has been in pieces for the last 16 yrs. I took it to a guy who was going to paint it, but things happened, and after it was stripped and sprayed with primer, he moved back to California. I was left with a truck in primer, and no good way to finish it. That was 2014. Fast forward 12 yrs and I have it ready for paint. I built a paint booth and I'm now ready to get it done. A couple days ago, I finished the interior with epoxy and a couple coats of a single stage hot rod black. The next day, I did the inside of the cowl, hit it with seam sealer, and a couple coats of hot rod black. This morning, I sprayed the underside of the hood and the inside of the doors with black SPI Epoxy sealer followed by Tamco Shadow blue metallic (code 7B) and Tamco clearcoat. It's not perfect, but it came out pretty decent, and for my first attempt at painting a vehicle, I'll take it.
