SS-31 Review
I started a round of SS-31 (from The Peptique), and thought I’d give an update since this is one that not many folks talk about. I’ve never done a mitochondria detox, so I wanted to do SS-31 to “prime” my system for the upcoming mitochondria peps I want to do, since I’ve been exposed to the same microplastics and environmental contaminants we all have living on this earth. I started with a 250mcg dose, because I was terrified of the exhaustion so many talk about when starting. Even at 250mcg, I could feel the fatigue a bit the first few days, and even got nauseous at one of my workouts. But then that stopped. I’m now feeling really good with steady energy through the day, and no afternoon crash. This morning I was checking my sleep stats. 30-45 minutes of Deep Sleep is about average for me. I get excited if I see 45-50 minutes of deep sleep on my sleep score. For the past week and a half I’ve had 1-1/2 hours of deep sleep almost nightly!!! I love seeing biological markers that help you know a pep is doing something, so this was exciting to me, and also helps explain why I am feeling so good! I’m a little over a week in, and planning to do the 250mcg for a full 2 weeks before bumping to 500mcg. The goal is to get to 1-2mg by the end of a 12 week cycle. I am also pairing with Glutathione (liposomal) and high doses of vitamin C. I’ll post the podcast whose protocol I am following for this below in the comments if you want to hear it. Studies of SS-31 have used doses up to 40mg, so I have no concerns about “overdosing” with my protocol. These studies have also been over multiple years, and have indicated that you may not need to cycle SS-31. Optimizing protocols generally call for 1-5mg daily over 8-12 weeks, which is what I plan to do. I got The Peptique SS-31 and reconstituted with 2ml BAC. There’s been no sting (which I’ve heard is sometimes a thing for SS-31?), and I think that adding the 2ml helps with that (this is also Tara’s recommendation on her cheat sheet). It does seem to be a thicker peptide, and takes a minute to draw out and also get the air out after I draw it.

Also according to ChatGPT a lot of people take SS-31 at night for the reasons you named. Did you try that at all?

@Sabrina Serna makes sense! I have a slight burn with the Mots-c but it goes away in a minute or two and definitely wouldn’t stop me from taking it. I have heard lots of people say they don’t feel it at all. Also I would imagine you could add 20 units of bac water to the syringe itself like with GHK-cu and it would help with any burn but not sure!
Lower HRV - Hyperthyroid
Hello to everyone! I wanted to see if anyone has noticed a lowered HRV on certain peptides? Mine tends to be lower while on peptides in general. I personally have not been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, but my thyroid numbers lean in that over active direction. I think this might impact the way I personally metabolize peptides. Any comments or thoughts are welcome! Loving this community!

@April Saathoff awesome! Thanks so much! That’s great to hear you have had so much relief. Migraines can be so debilitating! I have a great functional med doctor and I will definitely discuss this with her. I found a few good podcasts on it this morning as well!

@April Saathoff just wanted to thank you again for your recommendation to do LDN. I have been on it a month now and my inflammation is way down and I’m feeling great. My functional med doctor was excited to try it when I suggested so just wanted to thank you!
AOD
Would love to hear anyone’s experiences with AOD if you wouldn’t mind sharing! Thanks!

Mots-C and/or KPV Fatigue??
I've finished my first vial of MOTS-C, and just started KPV about a week ago. I'm on the standard doses recommended on the Peptide Guide, and have been experiencing a late afternoon crash. I have to take a at least an hour nap every day. It just started this last week so I'm thinking it's the KPV. Will it get better? I just finished the GLOW cycle, and am also on Tirzepatide 6.6mg every 7-10 days. My energy level was fine before. Any ideas?

Those are two of my favorites! Especially KPV… I am certainly not an expert but will just say from my experience that KPV has a short half life so sometimes towards the end of the day I will feel it wear off and I think fatigue or any symptoms of just not feeling my best start to show up at the end of the day. It also took about a week for me to start feeling the great benefits of it. I am currently doing MOTS-C and definitely haven’t noticed a crash! I know SS-31 can make feel people fatigued if they have mitochondrial repair that is being done. I wonder if MOTS-C might have that effect as well? Not sure!
Peptide Education
Tara, Can you recommend a good source (book, website, etc.) to learn more about peptides and aminos? I’m looking for a comprehensive resource where I can learn more about the plethora of peptides and aminos. I have a medical background (although it’s not recent) so the resource can be at a technical level (or not). Any suggestions are appreciated!

William Seeds has a series of Peptide Protocol books that are helpful and would probably be a good fit for you given that you have a medical background. I’ll send a link. Also, if you follow Hunter Williams you can get access to his videos and power points that are really informative. Tara has referred to him before and I get the sense he is pretty widely trusted.
