Can DSP's Be Trusted?
After reading the article about Universal Music Group being sued for $750 million for offering "sweetheart deals" to recording companies. This deal offered allegedly were in regard to paying less royalties in exchange for the recording companies taking stock option in Spotify. If this is what is going on between major conglomerates, what is happening to the little man? Aka independent creators and companies. Will there be further audits of other DSP's? https://pitchfork.com/news/black-sheep-sue-universal-music-group-over-spotify-stock-sales/#:~:text=The%201990s%20hip%2Dhop%20duo,in%20exchange%20for%20Spotify%20stock.

TikTok Copyright Claims
I recently released my first song through Distrokid and I couldn’t find it in the TikTok library yet so I edited the video and added it myself. When I uploaded it TikTok removed the audio and said there was a copyright claim. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how did you dispute the claim?

Yes, i had to email my distro in order to get it resolved. Was told that they recently updated the terms? But yeah I’d start with emailing them.
INTRO
Yoo, whats good! Just got added to BMN. Im a manager and director. The music industry gets a terrible rep (rightfully so) but I still believe there's genuine people in this field who cares and wants to do right! Looking forward to learning, networking, and helping however I can.🤞🏾

@Boipelo Matlhare exactly foward thinking.
Artist potentially retiring
One of the artists I work with have had some life events that may force them to retire for the foreseeable future leaving their partner to pursue it alone if they choose to do so. Whats a shame about this is that we were working on a big come back from radio silence for the past 2 years. The project (short film/ music video and social media campaign) is essentially complete and is some of our best work yet. I wanted your opinion on whether or not promoting this release as a "good bye" or retirement would be of benefit or a hinderance. With so much up in the air it would be a shame to pull a Logic and "retire" for a year just to come back and make it all seem like it was just for promo and loosing trust of your fans. My other concern is that if people see this will likely be their last release they may not want to get attached to them as an artist and not engage with the content. The other option would be to use this to kick of the solo career of the other member but they do not have any real following right now and so this project would likely not get the same engagement as it would if it was posted on the page they have built together. Just wanted your perspective on this as artists and I keep going back and forth on this.

hmm if its not a forsure retirement and everything is ready to go content wise. id suggest releasing it without mentioning the retirement, if the artist are comfortable with that. That way you could still release their best work to date and if the artist decides not to retire, you guys picks up where you left off. you can always announce an retirement. however if its certain he will be moving on then id say kick of the solo career!
