Artist potentially retiring
One of the artists I work with have had some life events that may force them to retire for the foreseeable future leaving their partner to pursue it alone if they choose to do so. Whats a shame about this is that we were working on a big come back from radio silence for the past 2 years. The project (short film/ music video and social media campaign) is essentially complete and is some of our best work yet. I wanted your opinion on whether or not promoting this release as a "good bye" or retirement would be of benefit or a hinderance. With so much up in the air it would be a shame to pull a Logic and "retire" for a year just to come back and make it all seem like it was just for promo and loosing trust of your fans. My other concern is that if people see this will likely be their last release they may not want to get attached to them as an artist and not engage with the content. The other option would be to use this to kick of the solo career of the other member but they do not have any real following right now and so this project would likely not get the same engagement as it would if it was posted on the page they have built together. Just wanted your perspective on this as artists and I keep going back and forth on this.

@Lulu Ali interesting thoughts. I suppose some fans relish the drama and controversy and it's about knowing what your fans will respect. And you're totally right about haters. They are almost better for promo than the average fan now you say it.

Hey Zul! This video and song feel very authentic and I'd say thats the strongest positive this has going for it. I'd say one area of improvement would be to make a stronger hook off the bat. People will click away in less than 5 seconds unless you give them reason to stay. Another thing I'd focus on the next video is trying to create an image that will stick in people minds. Something so strong a person could sketch it out and you'd get it. For example when you were in front of the high school it's a little generic but could be amped up to become more iconic. What if you were wearing some eye catching outfit, eating some kind of food thats specific to long beach (think Kendrick in Kings dead) or just something absurd like sitting on a horse there? Something that will stick in the viewers mind. Just make sure it's authentic to who you are as an artist which you clearly have a vision for already. Now it's a matter of pushing it further. Keep up the good work man!

@Zul Showe If it's unique enough then yes. But throwing a Lambo in there has been done 1000's of times and won't stick in peoples minds. It just needs something that will stick in peoples minds.
Editing content
What software do you edit your content with? I’ve been using Premiere Rush and it’s good, but lately I’ve been seeing some amazing crisp videos and I want to level up.

@Martin Hieronimi And the paid version is industry standard for colour grading! Great software.
Authentic? Content Creator
Although I would love for my only focus as an Artist to be β€œ Put out great Music / Visuals” (which comes so easy to me) we all know now a days being an Artist means being a content creator. Which on the other hand I find to be such a struggle when brainstorming β€œAuthentic Ideas” . Am I the only one struggling with this. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how they balance both ? Am I overthinking Should I just focus on music & not being a content creator ?

Indie artists releasing music on Fridays?
Whats your opinion on a indie artists releasing singles and music videos on Fridays when the major artists do as well? Do you think that the audience being primed to expect new music outweighs the cost of competing for views with the major artists?

@Lucky Dedeh Totally that makes a lot of sense.
