1. Mitral Regurgitation in presence of AF 2. Echo(TTE), consider TEE if TTE inconclusive, for better resolution, planning surgery 3. Mgt-depends on MR & severity/symptoms/type(primary vs secondary MR), Meds: for AF- rate/rhythm control (B blocker), anticoagulate longterm DOAC- can be used if Mitraclip. Afterload reduction-can consider ACE-inhibitor, and also diuretic-if pulmonary congestion. Definitive Mgt-Normally Surgery-mitral valve repair/replacement-But given age consider transcatheter option-> Mitraclip.
Why handheld echocardiography is the future of clinical practice.
I use handheld echo every single week — it’s revolutionised how quickly I can make decisions for patients. What used to take days waiting for an echo slot, I can now identify in minutes during consultation. The best part? You don’t need to be a consultant to learn this. My upcoming 1-day handheld echo course in London will teach you: • How to assess LV function • Identify major valve lesions • Recognise key Doppler findings It’s 100% practical, hands-on, and built for real-world use. 📅 Dates + early-bird info available inside this Skool group. 💬 Comment below if you’d want a student discount or group rate — I might just release one 😉

I will be hosting the next echocardiogram course, I want to give some of you that are interested to apply for the course. Unfortunately, we cannot accept all applicants as there will be a strict criteria for this course. The aim of this course is to teach you the basics of echocardiogram using a handheld device and then you can go ahead and use this within the community to detect cardiac diseases early so if you’d like to apply, I’d like to see how many in this community are interested so please comment below and I will take it from there.
