What do you want to get out the community (October)?
This has been a big month for me. Last week I became a Dad (super excited but sleep deprived), also feels very wierd calling myself a Dad. So this month I'm in a tiny bit of a holding pattern but I've got two main focuses this month. 1. I want to engage way more on here and restructure the classroom. We've got sample projects, tons and tons of templates and more. I really want to try and get people to use them 2. Rebuild my email newsletter so its genuinely useful for people. I'm planning on breaking each week down into three parts: news updates - what's happened in the last week of construction/AI, inform - some interesting insight or perspective change and work - a new approach or solution to a task. What are your goals for October? Comment them down below!

@Tim Fairley well after watching your video on GrokBot and then doing some research I am thinking of getting that involved with my day-to-day task/email management. However, I did just hit a predicted snag in the fact that work has put a halt to any AI connections into any of our systems. Although it's not the end of the world, it's a tad frustrating. I have now at least convinced them today I will do research and present to them the benefits it can offer, the security measure we can take and what I plan on implementing in my own workflows and hopefully once established and proven, then implement to a team level. I am currently loving Opus 5.5 with the tendering process. Today blew my mind when my skill started measuring out conduit runs and then cross referencing it to the builder's quoted measurements and was within 2% after 500m, over around 7 different runs. Working for myself for years I have just learnt that business never stops and unfortunately for me I haven't been able to switch off that mentality, i.e. got home tonight at 9:30. I find myself very productive when emails aren't constant and the phone isn't constant. But yes, it will lead to a burn out for sure, at the moment I am finding it hard to switch off and sleep. The last 2 weeks I think I am averaging 3 hours a night, which is disgusting, especially with 5 kids lol!

@Corey Nichols yeah it is getting there, and my thoughts are exactly that about ContractorOS. I literally had to make a mind map for work today to show the ways I am using AI in the business for fears of data breaches and safety etc. It gets a tad frustrating that I am trying to show the benefits of AI and all the efficiencies it is bringing, and it turns into a huge debate about hacking and safety and now I am having to justify my every move with it. hopefully it all turns around soon.
How to review an estimate with AI
Using AI to review is a great way to start and gaps in an estimate are cheaper to find before you submit than after you've won the job and are building them at your own cost. I gave Claude the bid folder, including the estimate and a register of all requirements in the documents. It came back with 26 items that weren't ready to go. The four checks: - Is everything priced? - Is anything priced twice? - Does the maths tie? - Do the price and programme match the contract? I don't blindly fix all 26 it's a starting point into what to look into more deeply into. There will be some that I know where sorted somehwre else but more than likely they'll be a couple of good catches. If you want to grab the skill used you'll find it in our community ContractorOS. I go through the whole thing in the video.
