So, what? part 2 I used to… but now I…
How many of you have been using the So, what? Method? Quick Refresh: we face a “limit” or something doesn’t go as expected. So, what I decided to show up so that’s what I’m going to do! Here’s the next step. I used to… but now I… When we’re facing a limitation it’s important to reflect how we would have reacted in the past (I used to), while then reminding ourselves what we are doing in the moment and why it’s important (but now I) Here’s an example: Situation: I’m about to start a run, when it starts raining moderately. Thought Process: It’s raining. So, what if it’s raining? It’s just water. I used to use the rain as an excuse to not run, but now I’ve decided that the rain isn’t a big deal it just means I’m going to get wet and that’s okay . Here’s an everyday example: Situation: Laundry is starting to pile up. Thought Process: Laundry is starting to pile up. So, what it’s just laundry, it’s not going to eat me. I used to dread doing laundry until I had to dedicate a whole day of doing it, but now I I’m going to start with one load at a time. I hope this helps with your reframe of difficult moments and limitations! What are some reframes you already use?

@David Carr @Lewis Sheward Thanks, yeah it’s a good way to weed out the excuses that definitely should not stick! Here part 1. If you want to take a read: https://www.skool.com/run-club-2316/so-what?p=aad60620

I think this sums up running with your phone really well! 😅
So, what?
In any physical endeavor, the hardest part for me isn’t doing the actual work, the hardest part for me is being my honest about how much of the work I am capable of in the moment. Recently I’ve decided to push myself more as a runner. I’ve decided to set higher mileage goals, faster times, I want to feel better on my runs, etc. As I push towards my “limits”, doubt starts to creep in. Before, as I approached those “limits” I would justify stopping early. I would use the excuse of something felt sore, I was tired, or it started to rain, looking for any excuse to turn around. Knowing that I want to run much further than I am currently running, I needed a way to figure out how to convince myself how to keep going. What if when I notice the “limit” (my energy, the weather, etc) I actively decide that it doesn’t matter and focus on something else. I’ll ask myself “So, what?” It’s raining. So, what does that have to do with finishing the run? I’m tired. So, what? You’ve been tired before. So, what? is a great way to ward off excuses that aren’t valid reasons to quit! what are some of your tricks to keep going?

@Nigel Taylor yes change the mindset demand a large slice of lifes pie! I recently learned that runners who train from age 19 usually hit peak speed by 26 or 27. So it took them about 8 years to hit their peak. It's not until the age of 65 that they slowdown to the pace they had at 19! (Born to run by Christopher Mcdougall)

Friday Flex (or Fail)
What's something you did this week you're proud of? 💪 Or... that didn't go to plan? 🙈 This can be running related or not! Let's hear your flex or fail! ⬇️

Fail- Really didn’t plan out my weeks runs (not that I really ever do) so the first 3 days of the week were all “minimum distance” of 2 miles runs for me. So now I’m stacking my miles on the weekend 😅 Flex- 11 miles yesterday and 8.5 miles today! It’s also really windy here with 35mph winds!
