Dowland under the microscope today (and yesterday). Been busy with school so haven’t had time to post but with school in session practice is always happening haha.
Thank you! It’s funny cause two seconds after this I realized I was actually supposed to play an A instead of that B which is why it felt so impossible to play haha. And all my pieces are in standard notation which I had to learn when I got to college. It was definitely tough at first but I have a pretty stern professor who stayed on top of me to learn it so I picked it up pretty quick and now I can sight read pretty decently! Honestly though it’s a bit overwhelming to look at at first especially for guitar (mostly because it’s all on one staff) but once you get positions memorized it’s pretty intuitive.
First day of classes and back to the usual grind, have to start working up this Weiss piece for an upcoming master class. Was going well until the cats knocked over the uke and I got distracted 😂
@Dalton Marshall yeah it’s honestly some of my favorite stuff too! The prog metal head in me loves this stuff mostly due to the ability and influence it can have on guitar composition in the modern day! There’s also some crazy dissonance in classical music too which I love. You ever want to hear some crazy stuff though look up 12 tone. Stuff melted my mind listening too but in a weird way it has led to the adoption of dissonance widely across genres. Even though it was short lived
