Suga, your booty is not the problem. Your dress needs enough room to go over your curves! 👏🏾 We’re continuing our Stop Blaming Your Body series with a fit issue that has us pulling down the back of our dresses all day. A fuller backside can need extra width AND length. When the fabric doesn’t have enough room, the dress can ride up, leaving the back hem higher than the front. ✂️ Today’s tip: Check the fit BEFORE you fix the hem! Put on your dress, let it settle, and look from the side—or have someone take a picture. 👉🏾 Is the fabric pulling tightly across your bottom? 👉🏾 Does the dress creep up when you move? 👉🏾 Is the back hem noticeably higher than the front? Don’t reach for the scissors just yet! Cutting the front shorter might even up the hem, but it won’t fix tightness across your backside. If you’re sewing from a pattern, a full-seat adjustment adds room through the back for a fuller bottom. Getting that room right comes BEFORE deciding on your final hem. Your curves don’t need an apology.
