Gamification Tool Kit? 🧰
Hello adventurers! A thought crossed my mind today that I just want to toss out here for some discussion. If I were create a physical "Gamification Tool Kit" to help educators implement gamification with a set of ready to use tools/resources/consumables ... what would you like to see in it? What would be useful? Some basic ideas I have are: - A base set of reward and punishment cards - 1-2 Sets of TTRGP Dice (D4, D6, etc...) - A dice tower / dice rolling mat - A lock box, or equivalent - Scratch off foil papers - Timers - Physical tokens / items - Dry Erase Cards Of course it would go hand in hand with some activities, guides, written resources and so on. Always something I've wanted explore (in a preliminary fashion) so I figure, why not ask and see where it takes me? I look forward to the discussion! -Master Heebs ✒️

That would be really cool. It would defiantly help someone starting out.
Brainstorming Gamification Themes
Let’s start a thread with different themes that could work for a gamified classroom. In the course, the example used is a medieval fantasy theme, but I’m curious what other themes people have used or are thinking about that could work across subjects and over a longer period of time. What themes have worked well for you, or what ideas are you playing around with?

For grade 4, the fur trade is a big thing in social so thats the theme for the year that I'm going to look at doing.

@Francis Lamoureux I have been thinking about that. I have the idea of them moving around on a map and they can only trade when they reach a fort and each fort has different deals depending on what they need. I will probably look at expanding and settling into Canada more next year as I'm working on base planning right now.
My beginning
Hi everyone, I'm new to the site. I attended Scott's session at our teacher's convention and instantly became hooked. I currently teach grade 4. I have become so excited about gamification that I've started planning a unit with it, and I have had so much fun with the planning process. This is making me enjoy teaching again. Both my class and I are excited to try it out, as I gave them a teaser.

@Colleen Voth That is so awesome. My class is just as excited. I'm actually working on it during my spring break because I'm so into it as well lol.
Assessing Theme 🪄
In the "Choosing Your Theme" classroom you broke down and answered some questions about things you do, challenges you could face and things that interest you! Now it's time to share! Maybe you can find some like minded individuals and share a glass of ale together as you plan!

@Colleen Voth i agree with the too big too fast. I sometimes do this too.

@Francis Lamoureux Oh I agree. Doing more generic is the way to go. In grade 4 there's a lot of focus on the fur trade and the beginnings of Canada so I chose that theme as it ties into the curriculum more.
Resonating Thoughts 💭
You are awaiting your encounter with the Bard Marczewski at the Welcome Inn. While you wait, why not share your thoughts on your journey so far? What has jumped out at you so far? What shocked you? What do you intend to try or use immediately or in the near future?

I feel both excitement and terror at doing this. It seems like a big undertaking, but I started with just 1 science unit. With elementary, I would like to have a goal of cross-curriculum projects and have the year broken up into three sections of games or levels, as I would call them.

@Scott Hebert a do agree that fear and nerves are a good sign. I'm starting slow with units for the end of the year and to build up ideas to plan for next year.
