Mostly ChatGPT Plus. Sometimes I use AI for the full cover, sometimes just for the artwork or elements. Then I do the text and final layout myself in Affinity.
Hello everybody!
Introducing my self.....I am a retiree, since several years back. Started about 6-7 months ago with KDP. Like so many other people, starting up with KDP, I have been listening to a lot of "KDP Gurus" on YouTube! I do low content like coloring books and word search and also made two, Story+word search. Like Cozy Mystery Word Search. I am now trying to make medium and high content books. I feel I need more help and guidance when it comes to KDP ads and also to make the right type of videos for marketing on TikTok, Instagram a s o. Also to mention, I am from Sweden....

@Christin Löfgren Hi, Welcome to the community, I also joined recently and I’m still learning too. I noticed we work in a similar niche, so I hope it’s okay to ask. I also make word search books, but I still have very few sales. The competition feels tough, and ads can easily be $1+ per click. For your Cozy Mystery Word Search books, do you use a short story on one page and a normal word search on the next? Or do you add things like hidden messages or ciphers too? Do you make them manually, or use a tool? @Ed Woods I think I know who you meant. I also noticed that person replying to almost every post and usually ending with a follow-up question. It felt a bit strange to me too.
Introduction
Hi everyone! I started KDP in July 2018 and have published 167 low- and medium-content books. I've never had major success, but I made some sales and experimented with Amazon Ads. After taking a break for a few years, I'm back with a different mindset: creating better books, building consistent traffic, and treating publishing as a real business. Over the years, I've learned from many YouTube channel, including Self Publishing Central, Rachel Harrison-Sund, Barry KDP, Chris Raydog, Emeka Ossai, Sean Dollwet, Ken Fornari, Dave | Elevate Publishers and many more. After watching a few of Dave's videos, I was drawn to the idea of not constantly chasing niches, keywords, rankings, and endlessly spending money on Amazon Ads. I still don't fully understand the whole process, so I joined this community to learn more beyond YouTube and explore the free Gumroad resources. If needed, I may eventually invest in the Email Marketing for Self Publishers and Email Marketing for Self Publishers courses from elevatepublishers.gumroad.com Wishing everyone the best. We're all on different journeys, so I hope we can keep learning, apply what fits our own lives, and find success in our own way.

@Ed Woods From my very limited experience so far, I’ve found that sales and reviews don’t always work in a straight line. For example, some of my books had sales in the first month even without any reviews, mainly through Amazon Ads, and a few also got some organic sales directly from Amazon. On the other hand, having reviews also doesn’t always mean the book will get strong sales. I have one book with over 900 total customer ratings, but it still only sells around one copy a day. I know there are services like Book Bounty or Pubby that some authors talk about, but I’ve personally never used them. To me, they feel a bit risky and not fully natural, so anyone interested in that route should do their own research and make their own decision carefully. For organic reviews, one option is to add a polite review request inside the book, maybe with a QR code. Of course, it’s important to follow Amazon’s rules: no incentives, no asking for a 5-star review, and no pressure on the buyer. The detailed rules are best checked directly on Amazon’s website. By the way, are you recommending that Content Marketing course? (elevatepublishers.gumroad.com/l/content-marketing-for-selfpublishers) Have you already bought it? If so, would you mind sharing a quick review of what you think about it? Thanks for joining the conversation. I hope you find the right path for your own journey and reach success in a way that feels right for you.

Thanks for letting me join the group. I never knew TikTok could drive traffic to KDP books. I'm not really into social media and don't even have a TikTok account yet, so this will be something completely new for me. Not sure how it'll go, but I'm looking forward to learning from everyone.
Let's start again
Hello, I was doing KDP for a good few years. I had 100s of books published. Colouring books, activity books, quiz books, puzzle books, and short story books. My account was starting to do really well. However, my account got banned and I lost it all. Now I want to do it again but, I want to do it better.

@Jay Roberts Sorry to hear about your account. I've heard that starting a new account with the same name or using the same devices could carry some risks. I've also heard that even if you use a different name, a new device, and a different internet connection, re-uploading books that were previously associated with a terminated account may still be risky. Of course, I have no idea how Amazon handles these things internally, but if I were in that situation, I'd probably just let the old books go and focus on creating new ones rather than risk losing everything a second time.
