Noob CNC Plasma Table Build
Hi Guys. Thanks a lot, Grant, and all the community members for the fantastic group. I'm learning a lot. I found my way here via Homemade Madness' Youtube channel. During my research I also found Midwest Customz' Youtube channel. Like Grant, Stevie also does top notch fabrication and his table is a work of art, in my humble opinion and this got me inspired to attempt to build a table for myself. I'm based in a small, remote town in South Africa. The use case will be mainly hobbyist but who knows, maybe I'll do some signwriting and production on the side. There's a large agricultural community in our area but the nearest machine shop is more than a hundred miles (160km) away so there's definitely a market for fabrication work here. So anyways, my little shop is basically set up and ready to go and I've got a few questions which I would be most grateful if you guys would help me with: 1. Would you recommend that I buy and use Homemade Madness's plans as the basis for my table? It is not my intention to diss the guy but as I understand from multiple sources, he doesn't respond to questions and it seems also like there are a few areas where his CNC files are lacking. I don't mind paying for his plans but if I'm not going to use any of them anyways, then it seems like a waste of my already limited money. 2. Unless I'm mistaken, Grant's plans do not address the table itself but mainly focus on the shortcomings of the Homemade Madness table namely the gantry as well as the Z axis. Is it okay if I basically build the table just from memory and then start focusing on the details once that is done? In that case, what is the profile of the square tubing used to build the table and legs? It seems like 2 inch (50mm) but what is the wall thickness? How tall are the legs? 3. I'm planning on building my table roughly 5 x 10 feel (1.5m x 3 meter). I know that this is larger than most but I do have the space and I figured that there are no real disadvantages to making it large, save for the cost of the linear rails and gear racks so I might as well bite the bullet and go big. Are there any other reasons why I shouldn't build my table this large?

Much appreciated, Grant. I'll be ordering the steel for the table this afternoon. I'm a noob as I mentioned so I might have more questions in future, if you don't mind.
