Bar Results & Scoring
To the February bar takers that passed the exam, congratulations! Everyone in this community knows the work dedication. It took to get that result. To the February bar takers that did not pass the exam, I am so sorry. I know how hard you worked and hoped for different results. Allow yourself to feel whatever you need to feel and then immediately develop a plan of how youโ€™re gonna get past the next exam. To help, Belyn is currently uploading all past CA bar essays in our classroom! Iโ€™ll make sure to do weekly MBE practice here too! I would like to mention one thing. I overheard a lot of people talking about getting 65 on an essay. Although that is not a bad score on an essay, I want you all to realize itโ€™s also not a passing score. If youโ€™re averaging 65 that will not get you the scaled written score that you need to pass the exam. Generally, you need a 67% average to get to the current 1390 cut score of the California bar exam. So that means you need to target an average score of 70 not 65 to ensure you pass.. If anybody has questions or needs me to do a webinar explaining our scores and how it works, and how itโ€™s calculated, at least here in California, lmk! #wedonttrywedo #barpassers

This is awesome! Thank you.
Why law school?
For the current students in our community what made you go to law school? For me, Iโ€™m a 1st gen atty on both sides of my family. Growing up in south east LA in the 90โ€™s made me want to give voice to those that felt silenced. I was just a girl with a dream but it changed my life forever.

For me, becoming an attorney was always a childhood dream of mine. As I got older, I thought the dream was out of reach because other fields called to me such as working directly with underserved communities and providing direct services and programming (I work at a nonprofit). As my life settled and I was able to dream more for myself, I decided to finally give law school a shot. Especially with the line of work I do (with a focus on policy and youth diversion work) I can see how learning the law could become a tool for change.
