Why Nutrition and Movement Have to Work Together
Post-Motherโ€™s Day reflection ๐Ÿค This weekend was a good reminder for me of how much nutrition and movement go hand in hand. You really canโ€™t have one without the other. I had the energy to run around and chase my kids on the beachโ€ฆand also fully relax and enjoy being there. I indulged on my birthday last week, and again on Motherโ€™s Day, completely guilt free. Because I trust my body. And I know Iโ€™m consistently fueling it well. Thatโ€™s the part I wish more women understood. Itโ€™s not about being perfect, it's about building a foundation that supports you. Most of the women I talk to are already doing the basics, walking, staying active, trying to eat better. But if your body isnโ€™t being properly fueled and challenged, itโ€™s easy to feel stuck. Low energy.Cravings.Plateaus. Movement keeps you going. Fueling and challenge are what move you forward. That combination is what allows you to enjoy life fully, the movement, the rest, and yes, even the indulgence, without guilt. Curious, do you feel like your current routine is truly supporting your energy, or just getting you through the day?

Most of you have heard me mention Charlene. You've seen her name, heard me reference her work. She's been in the background โ€” by choice โ€” while we laid this foundation together. That changes this week. She's stepping in directly, and I want you to know a little about who she is before she does. Grew up in constant motion: 4 grade schools, 4 high schools, 4 colleges, a different state and city for each ๐Ÿ”น Sober since 1981: 44+ years of real, lived tools for self-examination ๐Ÿ”น Experienced the trauma of abuse in early romantic relationships and healing that comes with a good marriage. ๐Ÿ”น Married in 1990: celebrating 36 years together this year ๐Ÿ’‘ ๐Ÿ”น Faced cervical cancer: no insurance, had the surgery, came out cancer-free ๐Ÿ”น In 1996, a contractor laying new sewer lines in the neighborhood put them in backwards โ€” flooding her home with sewage. ๐Ÿ’ฅ Let's talk about what you're REALLY getting as a Premium Member
Hiring a Holistic Health & Nutrition Coach on your own? That'll run you about $300 per session. Most coaches require a minimum package โ€” so you're looking at up to $1,500/month just to get personalized guidance on what you're eating and how it's affecting your body. Need a Money Management Expert? Private financial coaching $400 per session. And that's before you even get a real plan in place. Many women spend $2,000+ just to get started. What about a Physical Therapist who actually understands the female body over 40? A single PT session costs around $350 out of pocket. Weekly sessions? You're easily spending around $1,400/month โ€” and that's for ONE therapist, not two. Let's add that up. ๐Ÿ”ด Holistic Health & Nutrition Coach โ†’ up to $1,500/month ๐Ÿ”ด Money Management Expert โ†’ up to $2,000/month ๐Ÿ”ด 2 Physical Therapists (women's fitness 40+) โ†’ up to $2,800/month That's hitting $6,300/month โ€” or $75,600 a year โ€” in expert guidance for Nutrition, Money Management, and Fitness. Inside the Selfcare Wellness Society? You get ALL of that for $12 a month or $130/year and you get a great discount on our products on Gumroad. ๐Ÿ™Œ No hourly rates. No packages. No gatekeeping. Activity Pyramid - combine with Food Pyramid and we're set!
You know the food pyramid, right? Did you know there's an activity pyramid? So much better than a checklist or to-do list. You can see exactly what activities count and how often. No guesswork. And it got me thinking... this is why homemakers and housewives of the pre-internet generation were fit. Vacuuming, washing windows, mowing the lawn, tending the garden โ€” that wasn't exercise, that was just life. Built-in daily movement without a second thought. Combine the activity pyramid with the food pyramid and we've got a back-to-basics wellness foundation that actually makes sense. Simple. Visual. No app required. Check it out and tell me what you think. ๐Ÿ’›

This pyramid is very basic, which is fine โ€” but it misses two important distinctions: strength training, and the difference between daily movement and actual workouts. Walking the dog, taking the stairs, gardening, and household chores are all valuable. Daily movement is essential and very important for overall health. But movement is not the same as training. Most people are moving, but they are not challenging their systems โ€” the cardiovascular system and the muscular system โ€” in a way that builds strength, endurance, and resilience. To get stronger, we have to push ourselves a bit beyond what feels easy. Thatโ€™s how we keep the heart strong, maintain muscle, and support long-term health. My philosophy is simple: combine the things you enjoy with the things that are necessary. You might not enjoy lifting weights, but it is a must. On the other hand, some people love lifting weights but avoid cardio. You canโ€™t have one without the other. Both matter. Both serve different purposes. Movement keeps you active. Training makes you stronger. Curious โ€” does your current routine include activities that truly challenge your strength or your heart, even just a few times per
