Personal experience about recovery
I wanted to share something as a parent, because it may help another parent or swimmer. During the last camp, in august , David wrote that proper post-training recovery is essential and that “this is not a joke.” I could not agree more. We learned this ourselves. My swimmer was not always refuelling properly after hard sessions, and little by little performance started to drop and other problems appeared the real issue being that the body is simply not getting enough energy for everything it is being asked to do. And in a teenager, this matters even more than in an adult athlete. An adolescent needs energy not only for training and recovery, but also for growth, bone development, hormonal maturation and normal puberty. This is where parents should know about RED-S — Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport. It can develop when, over time, an athlete does not take in enough energy to cover both training and the body’s normal needs. The signs can be surprisingly easy to miss: persistent fatigue, slower recovery, declining performance, loss of strength, recurrent injuries, changes in mood or concentration, reduced immunity, and disturbances in bone and hormonal health. What makes RED-S tricky is that it often develops gradually, and many of these signs can easily be blamed on adolescence, school stress, poor sleep or “just a bad season.” That is why I really appreciate the way Swim Pros insists not only on training, but also on proper post-training nutrition, carbohydrates + protein, hydration, electrolytes when needed, and enough sleep..and mental coaching of course. We caught the problem in time, but it made me realise how easy it is to overlook. So yes, David was absolutely right: this is not a joke. Recovery and adequate fuelling are part of the training itself — especially in a growing athlete.

WR Holder Peter Mankoc on the air tomorrow...
@Peter Mankoč will be joining us for the Swimpros News tomorrow at 4pm CET. For those of you who don't know him yet, he's one of the swim coaches during the Summer Camp in Tenerife. And he held multiple World Records. But tomorrow he'll reveal something brand new that's officially being released in our Skool group on March 15th. It involves cameras and swimming. And it'll blow your mind!! That's all I'm gonna say for now. Join us tomorrow, here's the link to watch live. 👇 Comment below if you want the replay and I'll DM it to you afterwards.

📰🧨 BREAKING: “Pain Is Part of Life. Suffering Is Optional.” Swimmers & Parents React.
Last night I was watching one of the best video podcasts I've ever seen (and I studied 100's) with 2 very big names. (If enough people comment their opinion below, I'll share the video in the community.) Here's what they said: "Pain is part of life. Suffering is optional." What's "pain"? And what is "suffering"?? Comment. Discuss. Rdy? Go!! 👇 PS: If you're reading my posts like an eagle 🦅 but have never engaged in the community yourself, this is your chance to move from 💤 Drifter To 🔥 Believer and unlock the Nutrition Masterclass in the Classroom. All you need is 5 likes on one of your comments.

pain is involuntary, is a reflex. suffering is voluntary , is an emotion. humans are "able" to suffer without pain.

@David Karasek yes :) the physical pain is a very rapid "E-mail" sent to the brain by specialized " guardians" called receptors, and the pain is the expression of the brain for DANGER to harm the system ( meaning the body). Pain can be long lasting or very short. Long lasting pain has an impact on the emotional state , the mind gets involved, this is suffering , it is a more complex process, and can be emphasized by the subconscient mind even after the real cause of pain is disappeared. Suffering is is declined in time, and is triggering other mental and metabolic reactions, that are interrelated( like depression, bulimia and other chronic conditions). Short, instantaneous pain , if isolated event, can pass away without suffering and can even be forgotten. But if repetition comes in the equation, being a processus in time, then the suffering is Installing, employing several complex cognitive processus. This is why suffering could be a choice, as you stated. Actually this difference you are emphasizing with your approach in the Swimpros academy: physical pain, which is real, due to hard trainings, could overwhelm the untrained mind and could induce suffering, but this is bypassed by the trained mind that KNOWS and has the HABBIT to interprete pain as resource for building more power.
💙 Important Message 💛 (please watch + comment)
This is a short video message about a major mindset shift that we (as a community) need to make: Away from thinking that we HAVE TO drop time or make the podium and instead focus on building strong characters and happy/fulfilled swimmers who do the right things on autopilot. I explain more in the video. Let me know that you've watched the video (vote) and then I'm curious: What's ONE THING that has positively impacted your life since joining Swimpros?? Let's fill the comment section with positivity and real experiences!! 🌱🌿🌴 (Maybe make it our biggest Skool post that we've ever had??!!) Have u seen the video message? Vote and then comment your favorite thing below so others can see it 👇

my personal ONE THING is the "mind gym " to train the subconscient that swimpros is teaching us, this allows us to employ so much more resources when building our strategies to go forward. For my swimmer. Training/teaching the mind to organise and to be aware is permitting to gain the flexibility to better assimilate new breathing or physical training techniques, , which would have been "foreign language" for a "raw" and "confort-seeking" mind. And is also permitting to decompose and analyse situations ( good or bad) and to learn from them .

but in camp there is some unity...the level is high and cohérent. home.. they cannot have all: nutrition, mindset, uncewaters etc. so each adapts on the environnement that do not dépend on them..
