Just posted my solo guitar arrangement of Manhã de Carnaval — you might also know it as the theme from Black Orpheus (Orfeu Negro), the 1959 film that won the Palme d'Or and the Oscar for Best Foreign Film. Two days ago I recorded two solo guitar singles — no cuts, no edits, just raw takes heavily influenced by guitarists who shaped me: Joe Pass, Kosta Lukacs, and of course Django Reinhardt. 🎸 I'll be releasing them this summer, the first being a Django Reinhardt classic dropping June 25th — the opening day of the Festival Django Reinhardt in Fontainebleau. 🎶 I wanted to release music that is human, because we're missing a lot of that these days. Hello everyone, Sessions Manouches is coming up August 13th–17th, and we've got several exciting workshops on the way. I have to say, I'm personally fired up about the Cévennes, France event. I've been a fan of Sébastien Giniaux for years — he's one of those rare players who goes way beyond Django. Romanian music, Balkan music, Hungarian music, African music — the man is endlessly curious and it shows in everything he plays.
