I changed my branding and my Skool grew
When I first started my Skool community, I decided it was going to be "Social Media for Artists". Art is generally my background and social media really helped me promote my work and shop, so I figured it was a no brainer. I was able to grow my group to its first 100 members just by promoting it in a Facebook group for artists. After that, the member number stagnated for a few months. The most I could grow it to was about 300 people. After I talked to a decent number of members over DM and on the phone, I came to realize that there's a decent number of artists that are.... SUPER INTROVERTED. 🤣 I was surprised at how many times artist types would tell me they would rather DIE than make social media content, even if it meant their artist brands would get more traffic. After confirming this with a lot of creative friends, I changed the language in my branding to be more open-- switching it from "Social Media for Artists" to "Social Media Growth Club". Originally I was worried this was way to broad, but it ended up working! Shortly after changing the copy and branding slightly, the membership grew to over a thousand with a singular X post. I wanted to share this story in case people are working on their avatar / community focus, and was wondering if it makes sense to experiment or pivot. In my case it was really helpful! Are you happy with your community avatar / mission?

So I finally made my Fantasy Book production list...
I got it wrong— I’ve been saying 32 books! But it’s only 31. And it all starts with MOONTHREAD . . . . Here's the concept— 3 Heroes. Each Hero gets their own genre. Nala— emotion magic, poetry, a too-much-trust tragedy Bakura— life of a child soldier, violent, he puts a cult in his inventory in Book 2 Paka— everything else… maps, poetry from the world, RPG custom caster classes (just built the stat system last week!), journals, adventures… And each one has a symbol, so I can already see what the final leatherbound editions are gonna look like— Just that series’ symbol, on a green or dull pink or dark purple book background… Then (of course; cause it’s my thing, ya know?) BLACK PAGES… …and WHITE INK……

Biz idea— Food Truck Colosseum
3 food trucks in the desert, during Burning Man or something. What kind of food wins for you? Thai is my favorite, but I'll never skip a burrito food truck

Reality hurts. Read fantasy. In fantasy, you get to fight dragons. In NALA SAGA, you get to become one. Read NALA SAGA— AnthonyLeePhillips.com
