We made the papers! An expat book club for recovering readers 📰
Today's Portugal Resident carries my column on why it's time for an expat book club, and why it's especially for recovering readers like me. (Page 40, if you've got a copy to hand.) The six books on that page give you a taste of what's coming here at Book Ravers: 📖 Women Who Walk and The Winding Road to Portugal by Louise Ross 📖 Forgetting Nicholas Trant by Tim Richardson 📖 The Algarve Experience: Life Through Foreign Eyes by Paolo Funassi & Anna Alcott 📖 Not Done Yet: Life After 60 by Ali Heathfield 📖 The Performance Prescription by Dr John Briffa Each author will (fingers crossed) take up residence here for a week: an interview on Monday, the big idea on Friday, and the chance to ask them anything in between. Louise is up first. Authors: if you're one of the six, consider this your official invitation to come in, say hello and tell us what you're reading yourself. Readers: which of these would you most like to hear from? Tell us in the comments/vote 👇 *And if you know someone who used to love reading and has lost the habit, send them this post.

I read the three different series of Sally Rigby

@Carl Munson Reading so much inspired me to return to the books I’d started writing years ago. The more I read, the more I learnt about the craft of writing. Each book was a lesson, opening my eyes to different ways of telling a story and developing characters. Sally Rigby happens to be one of my favourites and the humour of Fiona Leitch lifted my spirits:)
Author-in-Residence: Louise Ross
Our very first Author in Residence moves in next Monday 🎉 @Louise Ross is spending a week with us here at Book Ravers. She's written three books, and rather than pick one, she'll be talking about all of them and the thread that connects them. Here's how the week works: 📖 Monday 12 October: Part one of my conversation with Louise, about who she is and her books. 📖 Wednesday 14 October: Part two of the conversation. 🥂 Friday 16 October, 6pm Portugal time: Live Q&A with Louise. Bring a drink! Louise will be popping in all week to answer your questions, so ask her anything: about the books, the writing, or the life behind them. Can't wait? Drop a question for Louise in the comments now 👇 And if you know a reader who'd love this, bring them along. Membership is free for our first 100 readers. Send them this link - https://www.skool.com/book-ravers-5500/about

Just listened to your interview (recorded, as I am not an early riser lol) Very interesting. Your life is very similar to mine, but I gave up writing a memoir and turned it into fiction.
