Homily Wisdom worth revisiting
Hi all. My homily this morning started with this nugget: The suffering we endure for the achievement of our goals is far less than the suffering of doing nothing and never getting the life we want. We would do well to remember this: that idleness in the face of despair only prolongs the suffering and what’s more: it suffers without hope. The virtue of hope serves a good life in the future. We will suffer a little in a good life’s pursuit, but that suffering is nothing compared to doing nothing and being unhappy forever. Apply this logic to heaven… We don’t get to Heaven by doing nothing (or even the bare minimum). Eternal suffering is nothing compared to trying to live the good life with momentary sacrifices and sufferings. It’s better we suffer a little now to gain the prize of heaven, than to do nothing now and suffer for eternity.

Well said Father, I can tolerate the suffering of now because I know that heaven is so worth it
Finding Little Victory
Hi Friends, I wanted to share a bit of my spontaneous homily from this morning about victory. Here’s the truth: we more often see the struggles, the obstacles of life, and seldom do we take account of the successes, the little blessings, the wins. If your perception is always clouded by the negative, you will struggle to see the positive. Like a window pane that is covered with soot, it’s impossible to see the light pass through it. We live in a world that loves to throw dirt. We are inundated with scandals, with evil, with the trials of everyday life, but seldom do we take account of the many wins that are around us, too. I was on a weekend trip to see a young faithful couple wed in the church. IT was MAGNIFICENT! It was a true pleasure to witness. Fr. Capo, the main celebrant, said to me in private, “we priests need these wins.” He is totally right. We need to see the faithful witness of our young men and women to remind us who are so often in the trenches, that victory is possible. When we pile up enough small victories, we can have the encouragement we need to stand against the bigger obstacles and tackle them head on. Here’s the lesson: keep your eyes open for the victories and daily blessings God gives you! Every day there are more wins than we can probably count, but we need to start tuning our senses in to see them. We need to be attentive to the world and get our sights focused on the little victories so that we can actually rejoice in them rather than feel overwhelmed by the tasks ahead. Find your little victories! Daily Mass is a place where we are reminded of Christ’s victory over sin and death! Every Mass we go to the battlefield atop Calvary and we find Jesus there suffering out of Love. Then, after it seems as if the last blow has finally come, we are awakened to the sound of the priest who proclaims: “Behold the Lamb of God, Behold Him who takes away the sins of the world, blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb!” This is a victorious cry! This is a proclamation that we have won! And… who do we behold? THE RISEN ONE! We behold Christ, raised from the dead.

A REMINDER to check out the Classroom Section
Hi all. I am going to be posting our RCIA (OCIA) classes in the classroom section so that you can have a little refresher course for yourself! I hope you find it helpful, enlightening, and (maybe even enjoyable). Thanks!

Introduction
Hello everyone, my name is Aniyah! I grew up in a Protestant church, but was only ever going through the motions. I became Catholic December of 2021 and I have to say, I love being Catholic! Since becoming Catholic, my relationship with God has grown immensely, I enjoy learning about the Catholic faith and am excited for the journey ahead. My favorite Bible verse(s) comes from Mark 4: 21-22. “He said to them, “Is a lamp brought in to be placed under a bushel basket or under a bed, and not to be placed on a lampstand? For there is nothing hidden except to be made visible; nothing is secret except to come to light.” Happy to be here 🙂
