Your Perfect Community Member
@Tori Davey offered a lovely prompt in her community Midlife Momentun today. She invited us to share a description of our "perfect community member", so I thought I'd share it here too! Feel free to add yours below. Tori is also hosting an "Anchor Book Method Workshop" on 30th April, which you might wanna check out! Thank you, Tori! 💖 My perfect community member is an expat mum at any stage of her journey, from a new expat mum to an empty nester. She is enormously grateful for the incredible life that she lives and also feels lonely and disconnected at times. She has done the move, maybe once, maybe four times, and she is brilliant at it. She holds the family together practically and emotionally. She worries about her children, but quietly, wondering whether this life is right for them. Will they find a sense of belonging, a sense of identity? Eventually she begins to wander about this for herself too. She does not want to be lectured or coached. She wants to think out loud with someone who gets it. She wants to be seen. She may be the life of the room or she may hang back, but either way she is an observer of the world around her. And yet there is a loneliness she keeps to herself, because who is she to complain about this life? When she arrives, she'll know she's found her place because we get it and she will realise that here she can bring all of herself and finally exhale. 🧡 If this sounds like you, I'd love for you to join me in my community. @Anna Murrietta Ah yes, as an expat for 30 years, the distance between my children and their grandparents brought feelings of intense guilt and doubt. I’m so glad I brought my boys home before my dad passed away. They spent two years catching up and connecting it was beautiful but was it enough though? 🥺 Your community is a wonderful place to land and connect with other grandparents, Anna. Thank you for opening this space 🩷🧡

@Anna Murrietta Thank you, Anna. We still talk about my dad, so it definitely had an impact on them. And they were very proud to carry his coffin too. 🩷 Your community is beautiful! 🧡

@Anna Murrietta I love being a part of your community, Anna. Even though I'm not technically a Grandma, I love pretending I am with the children in my life! 🩷🧡

@Anna Murrietta Thank you so much, Anna 🤗
Let’s be real for a second… 👀
If money wasn’t the problem… what would your life actually look like? Would you: spend more time with family? work from home? travel more? have less stress? finally feel free? For me… I’d want more time, peace, and freedom to be present with my future family 💛 Not rushing. Not stressing. Just being there. Your turn… What would your life look like?👇

@Tammi Thurston I kinda already lived this life. I was an expat spouse for many years and wasn't allowed to work in the countries we live in. I spent my time homeschooling my children, then building my own outreach programme. Unfortunately, life has a way of turning things upside down and after a divorce I find myself starting life from the very beginning in many ways. One of those ways is starting my own business. I've never felt more free in my life! 🕊️
