Quick observation — Gen Z is changing things (including tax resolution)
I read an article about how Gen Z is reshaping cannabis retail. The big takeaway? They’re not coming in to “get blasted.” They want control, clarity, predictable effects, clean branding, and straight answers. And honestly… I’m seeing the same thing with one of my own clients — a Gen Z veterinarian. Super sharp, but very much: “Just tell me what this notice means, what happens next, and what the steps are.” No hype. No panic talk. No fluff. It lines up perfectly with what the article said: - They’re more educated before they even show up - Money stress is real - They want structure - They ask more questions - They avoid anything that feels chaotic or salesy And this is creeping into tax resolution, big time. Younger clients don’t want the old fear-based IRS messaging. They want calm, simple, step-by-step guidance they can actually follow. Cannabis retailers already adjusted — more education, clearer sections, cleaner branding. We should be adjusting too. Anyone else seeing this with younger clients? More questions? More need for structure? Less tolerance for drama? Curious what everyone’s noticing.

Look, the Gen Z conversation is a easy hook… but let’s not overthink what’s been true since the first tax lien was ever filed: People take action because something hurts. Not because they’re enlightened. Not because they’re “educated consumers.” Because pain has finally backed them into a corner. Gen Z, Boomers, Millennials it doesn’t matter. Pain is undefeated. Now… once they’re in your world? That’s where things get interesting. Gen Z isn’t special for wanting clarity, structure, and straight talk. Everyone wants that. Nobody wakes up hoping for confusing advice, chaotic messaging, or a sales pitch that reeks of desperation. They’re allergic to theatrics. They have AI that will tell them everything they need to know and more. They’ll tolerate the truth (“the IRS will garnish you”). But they won’t tolerate the nonsense that’s polluted this industry for 30 years. So yes, you still use fear. Because fear is reality. Fear is what makes them opt in. Fear is what gets them to stop procrastinating. But once they’ve raised their hand? Give them a map. A path. A calm, orderly march toward the outcome. The cannabis comparison isn’t about products — it’s about behavior. You give people what they need to make a decision…Then you give them what they need to stay. Fear gets the click. Clarity keeps the client. Drama repels everyone. Call it Gen Z if you want. I call it timeless human psychology with a fresh coat of paint. Don't believe me? Can you picture this industry where no one was afraid of the IRS?

Plan of Action
HI Carlos, thanks for all of the marketing wisdom you've provided. Here's what im looking for - Let's say im new to tax resolution. How would you advise me to market myself? What's the step-by-step marketing plan of action you would put in place? You have so many great ideas but Im having a hard time seeing the big picture. How would I implenet all of your ideas into a marketing plan?

@Stephen Weisberg Great Question! We are working on a *Secret* project that answers this exact question! Maybe there will be a sneak peak in December. As for now: We would need more details on where you are at currently with your business, such as: 1. What is your marketing budget 2. Do you have the basics setup: Lead magnet, landing page, email, website, booking link 3. How much time do you have for marketing purposes 4. Do you have reviews or case studies? There are 4 ways to generate leads(cold outreach, warm outreach, paid ads, and content). We direct leads to a landing page to receive lead magnet. If the lead opt-in to get lead magnet that means they are a "qualified lead" and we now have their email. Next we do email marketing daily in this format: Hook-story- offer(CTA) The CTA is to schedule a Call. We can go into details on each but we need to know where you are at!
