Athlete's name : Leila Their level & program/gym: Ultimate Cheer Aces Prep 2.1 What lights them up about cheer: friends, community, competing, progression, all the merch... My 'why' as their parent : this is only her second season and she is SO obsessed with cheer, so I feel I should also make an effort to understand her new 'world' and connect with other cheer parents. One thing I'm hoping to get from UPLIFT: to understand all things 'cheer' just a little bit better so she doesn't look at me like I'm an idiot when she's telling me something!

Everybody here has to face the task of packing for competition days or game days or Cheer performance days. What are your top tips of things that you would always recommend people bring? You know the things that venues will allow 😆 show your tips with our Community here! I’ll go first… bring your own phone chargers. And make sure the charger is fully charged! Another pro tip… bring your own earplugs if you want to have some quiet time and can’t escape the arena environment with lots of volume. Noise cancelling headphones with spa music while you watch Cheer cheerleading can be pretty amazing! What are y’all‘s ideas? By the way, don’t bring the suitcase in this picture because the venues won’t let you bring them inside. I just couldn’t find another picture for this post so there you go.

Before we drop the whole 1hr interview here, I want to share a tiny piece of what world class choreographer John Knowles had to say when he was answering my question to him about what coaches should be doing right now to ensure the highest opportunity for success later in the season. He shares SO much in the interview, so this is only a tiny piece... but think about his answer from the coach perspective he was talking about here AS WELL AS our parent perspective. He's talking about decisions... leave your thoughts in the comments about how your coaches might be doing this, or how you might be doing this as a cheer parent.
