Pre-Season Decisions
Before we drop the whole 1hr interview here, I want to share a tiny piece of what world class choreographer John Knowles had to say when he was answering my question to him about what coaches should be doing right now to ensure the highest opportunity for success later in the season. He shares SO much in the interview, so this is only a tiny piece... but think about his answer from the coach perspective he was talking about here AS WELL AS our parent perspective. He's talking about decisions... leave your thoughts in the comments about how your coaches might be doing this, or how you might be doing this as a cheer parent.

A Coach Interview
Hey y'all! We did an interview with our friend, John Knowles the other day and want to know if this type of conversation matters to you or not. He is the former Allstar Director at Cheer Athletics and is a world renowned choreographer now with many World Champion teams, Summit, NCA, Majors, etc. He teaches coaches how to study the scoresheets and how to be better coaches. Is that interesting to y'all so you have a better understanding of what your coaches should be paying attention to, or is it too far outside the parent lane? Say yes if you want it or no if you don't... remember this is YOUR community to build, shape, and ask. Also, if you want anything specific, ask for that here too :)
A Coach Interview
Welcome, Alex!
YAY! We're thrilled to welcome you @Alex Hodge (and love your cat avatar, too!) Tell us about yourself, your athlete, and what brings you to UPLIFT? We can't wait to get to know you and serve you along your journey this season!
Welcome, Alex!
Tuesday Thoughts…
We work with athletes of all ages and skill levels, novice to elite, along with their coaches and parents. One thing they all have in common is that sometimes things don’t go the way they hoped or expected. Sometimes we all have a bad day or don’t perform at our best. Aly and I will be sharing some tips for you about having to navigate that, but we also believe in the collective knowledge of a great group. Share with us your tips for how you navigate with your child when things don’t go the way they hoped. ❤️

@Stephen Laverick This is such an important lesson you are teaching her, and a key part of what this sport can build in her if you know how to use these moments for that leverage. She's still young, so are you finding that she is figuring that out yet, or is it harder still because of the emotion of the moment? Do you recall a time in your younger self where you had to learn this too?
Interactive Planner: Where will we all see eachother this season?
Did y'all see the Interactive Planner in the Resources & Replay Classroom? Its so cool! You can drop your season schedule there and it lets you click a button to add it to your calendar, share it to here, etc. Even though the community is small right now, its about to grow! By the time we get to first comps, we want to see groups of you being able to gather with each other all season long, IRL! (Our first call on the calendar is next week, so after that, you'll start seeing recordings in there too!) SO much more ahead of us in here... stay tuned, ask for what you want, share with your friends (we are about to do the same), and let's build this family! 🤗
