8 Types of Hunger
EDIT: I had a powerful experience while on a walk after I posted this and it lead me to identifying 2 new types of hunger that have played a powerful impact on my life and I had been confusing it with Emotional Hunger. The reason I wanted to identify each of these is because they 1) each present differently and 2) have different needs that they meet. Some of the solutions may be the same as others but there are distinct differences that I feel are important. DM me if you are interested and I can email you the newest version as I keep making updates as I am learning. Original Post: Wow. This community sure has grown!!! I believe I was the first or second member and I haven't checked in for a while. I spoke with Vasi about a program that I have been working on and she encouraged me to share some information here. I created this brief introduction page to my program. I call it Metabolic Rehab; The Feasting/Fasting Method. I believe that a lot of the problems that people have with food and weight stem back to not recognizing hunger. I started developing a theory years ago that seems to have proven true through my experience and work. I am an addiction counselor and I see similarities with my clients to what I experienced trying to heal my metabolism. Then Dr. Jason Fung published his book The Hunger Code which I read as soon as it came out in March 2026 to see if it validated my experience. He shared his idea that there are 3 types of hunger. My experience identified 6; his first three types seem insufficient to what else I see going on so I started to create my program. This is the briefest introduction to what I plan to cover in my program. I plan to introduce each type, provide strategies to help people identify each type and eliminate some so that they don't have to fight hunger and cravings. After all, if we aren't hungry... it's easy to say no.

Well done, Jenny!
My simple Fasting Protocol
I’m about 63.5 hours into my fast now. Here are some of the things I’ve been doing... In the morning, I do relaxation, meditation, in bed, for about 30 minutes. Ok, I do this every morning, not just when fasting, but it feels so much deeper and more profound in a fasted state. I try to do relaxation at night as well too, before I go to bed, it helps me sleep better. Last night, I listened to Relax and Manifest Abundance on @Victoria Gallagher’s awesome Believe App. And I conked out and slept really well, which doesn’t always happen during longer fasts. I sometimes get a flow of inspiring ideas when I do relaxation while fasting, which is fun, and I’m ok with letting lots of them go cuz I can only do so much! Then, I drink a glass of water with half a lemon squeezed into it, and a few dashes of salt, to get an electrolyte boost. This is super energizing for me. Then, I make my tea. I’ve been having herbal/green tea with Pao D Arco to combat candida (which I’m prone to) and stress reducing herbs like lemon balm. Green tea gives me good antioxidants and energy to get through my morning. I drink this before noon so the caffeine doesn’t mess with my sleep. For the rest of the day, I drink water. After my drinks, I do 10 minutes of rebounding to support my body in detoxing. In the evenings, I’m working on dry fasting for at least 10-12 hours. So, no water overnight. This is a change for me cuz in the past, I would often drink lots of water before bed and take sips when I get up to go to the bathroom. I’m noticing that dry fasting helps me sleep better and makes me less cold during these longer fasts. I’m often freezing at night during longer fasts, but that just doesn’t happen when I dry fast for a few hours before bed. Learned from Dr. Mindy Pelz that giving ourselves time to dry fast increases production of Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), which is like fertilizer for the brain. It’s also really good for bone density and strong bones as we age.

@Vasi Smith Oh wow, I had no clue about the mercury thing! Thank you so much for sharing it. 😊 We don't have IRL Amazon deliveries to my country (except for digital products and a small offer of products with insane shipping prices), but I already found the name of the plant in my language and have just the right granny at the market to ask! If she doesn't carry it, no one here doesn't! :D

@Vasi Smith It's "tahebo" :)
Thrive is going BIGGER, bolder, and maybe a little Crazy??
It's always been a passion of mine to connect people for mutual THRIVING. It's been fun doing that in the realm of health and wellness, in this community. I'm leaning into connections more as I rebrand this community and create a bigger platform for all the amazing health and wellness professionals who have gravitated towards this space. There will still be posts about fasting and stress eating, and weekly support groups to navigate all of it, and I'm absolutely available for one-on-one coaching for anyone needing support in those areas. That's my jam, and none of that is going away! If you need support with any of that, direct message me today, I'm here for you :) My hope is that this transition creates more VALUE for all of us... Those of us seeking support with health and wellness, we get to learn more about the resources and opportunities available here. Those of us working in health and wellness, we get more of a platform to share knowledge/expertise and support others. It's a bit of an experiment...we will do it for 1-3 months and see how it goes. In that spirit, this is actually going to be the last Move and Market Monday. You're of course welcome to post something today if you'd like! After today, this category morphs into Value Posts. From now on, you will actually be able to post your offerings or your community DAILY in THRIVE, as many times as you'd like. There are a few guidelines... 1.) Anytime you share your biz, you can create a Value Post with the Value Post tab. You can share your biz when posting in other categories/tabs too, but it's important that you're adding value to the group with any post that you share, not just dropping a link. Your post can be a question, conversation starter, or tip/trick/experience to help people up level their health and wellness. As part of the post, you can link to your community or other offerings. I suggest changing it up, so you're not always including a link with every single post. For example, the following would NOT be a value post...posts like this would get deleted.

@Vasi Smith Will do, thank you! :) This spring has been a fast lane of sorts, but when I grab the chance, I'll go through the materials here a bit deeper :)

@Vasi Smith 100%! :)
I felt completely stuck
I spent months spinning my wheels in my health and wellness coaching business. I had information and tools that I knew could transform people's lives for the better and help them thrive in ways they hadn't even imagined was possible for them. This information had transformed my own life completely. Yet, I didn't know how to package it, how to connect with the right people who could really benefit, or how to make my business financially sustainable. I hit some really low points. Felt completely burnt out at times. Spinning our wheels gets so tiring at times! I questioned whether I was up to the tasks and dreams that were living in my heart. At times, I considered letting it all go. It was ironically during one of my lowest points in my business that things started shifting for me. I realized I need support. I needed a coach...not a business coach, but a life coach who could help me navigate the uncertainly, the occasional disappointments, the limiting beliefs that were coming up for me. I didn't need a perfectly packaged business system or someone telling me how to do things their way. I needed someone to help me get clarity about my own knowing, someone to help me sift through the noise of business and marketing advice and take the right steps for me. The ones that come from my own heart. Some people claim that building a business is one of the most challenging spiritual paths available. I now understand why! Silly me, I thought parenting was the most challenging spiritual path available! Guess I gravitate towards the difficult things. That's where the most powerful transformations lie. Maybe. That's not always true. But, it's a nice story for someone who gravitates towards hard things sometimes. What I found was that I needed space to connect with my own knowing. I needed time to create my own plan of action. A plan full of steps that felt exciting for me and aligned with my goals and intentions. It was like the abstinence plan I created, but tailored to business growth.

@Vasi Smith What a gentle reframe of the tunnel... and a great question! I guess being less hesitant. Being someone who's letting less time pass between wanting something and going after it. I've become better at it over the years, but I do need more reworking :)
